%20and%20I%20don't%20think%20I%20have%20ever%20made%20a%20cherry%20pie.%20But%20I%20remedied%20that%20this%20year!%20This%20recipe%20was%20just%20right..not%20too%20sweet,%20not%20to%20tart.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFresh%20Cherry%20Pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInspired%20by%20this%20post%20on%20Make%20and%20Takes.com%20who%20adapted%20their%20recipe%20from%20The%20Joy%20of%20Cooking%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20prepared%20pie%20crusts%20(store%20bought%20or%20homemade),%20rolled%20and%20ready%20to%20use%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20400%20degrees%20F.%20Fit%20one%20of%20the%20rolled%20pie%20crusts%20in%20a%209%20to%2010%E2%80%B3%20deep%20dish%20pie%20plate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20pitted%20cherries%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%20Sprinkle%20with%20sugar%20and%20cornstarch.%20Toss.%20Add%20water,%20lemon%20juice,%20almond%20extract,%20and%20food%20coloring%20(if%20using).%20Toss%20again%20to%20coat,%20making%20sure%20no%20lumps%20of%20sugar%20or%20cornstarch%20remain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20our%204th%20of%20July%20picnic%20I%20knew%20I%20wanted%20quiche%20because%20I%20thought%20it%20would%20be%20portable%20and%20also%20give%20me%20the%20opportunity%20to%20use%20up%20a%20few%20things%20from%20the%20fridge.%20I%20browsed%20a%20few%20recipes%20and%20made%20my%20own%20conglomeration.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBacon,%20Tomato%20and%20Mushroom%20Quiche%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStart%20with%20your%20favorite%20pie%20crust%20and%20precook%20in%20pie%20pan%20at%20425%20for%20about%205-7%20minutes.%20Take%20out%20of%20the%20oven,%20then%20begin%20to%20layer%20your%20ingredients.%20I%20used%20the%20following%20in%20the%20order%20given:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6%20piece%20of%20bacon,%20crumbled%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20cup%20or%20so%20of%20cherry%20tomatoes,%20halved.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20sauteed%20onion%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cup%20chopped%20mushrooms,%20sauteed%20with%20onions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20baby%20garlic%20(still%20looks%20like%20a%20bulb)%20chopped,%20sauteed%20with%20onions%20and%20mushrooms%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EColby%20Cheddar%20mix,%20shredded%20about%20a%20cup%20sprinkled%20on%20top%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20eggs%20beaten%20with%201%20cup%20cream%20(pour%20over%20above%20mixture)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20oven%20down%20to%20375%C2%B0%20and%20cook%20for%20about%2040%20minutes%20or%20until%20knife%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20I%20missed%20the%20big%20fireworks%20and%20maybe%20so%20did%20some%20of%20you%20I%20thought%20I%20would%20try%20to%20find%20some%20natural%20fireworks.%20If%20you%20squint%20maybe%20some%20of%20the%20bloom%20bursts%20will%20fool%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Veronica%20looks%20like%20shooting%20rockets%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlstromeria%20is%20just%20HOT%20enough%20looking%20to%20be%20fireworks!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENeat%20little%20geranium%20explodes%20with%20color%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMountain%20bluet%20is%20a%20pretty%20burst%20of%20blue%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20golden%20feverfew%20would%20brighten%20a%20night%20sky%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20ageratum%20looks%20like%20tiny%20sprays%20of%20blue%20fire%20poppers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20hosta%20blooms%20really%20reach%20out%20and%20grab%20you%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20we%20need%20is%20a%20little%20red%20to%20go%20along%20with%20these%20blue%20and%20white%20geranium%20Splish%20Splash%20sparklers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20about%20lily%20Lollipop%20for%20a%20fireworks%20encore?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20old%20fashioned%20daylily%20is%20like%20a%20sunburst%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPhlox%20unfurling%20is%20pretty%20exciting%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECloseup%20clematis%20explodes%20like%20a%20BANG!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20going%20to%20set%20off%20a%20sky%20rocket%20if%20I%20actually%20get%20tomatoes%20this%20year%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20little%20guy%20is%20like%20those%20double%20fireworks%20that%20change%20colors%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20again%20with%20the%20rose%20campion%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECalendula%20making%20a%20loud%20pop%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20the%20Grand%20finale,%20a%20red%20white%20and%20blue%20finish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20adding%20this%20post%20to%20Mosaic%20Monday%20over%20at%20Little%20Red%20House.%20Check%20out%20all%20of%20the%20other%20neat%20mosaics.%20I%20bet%20you%20might%20even%20see%20some%20REAL%20fireworks!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
