%20and%20so%20these%20posts%20are%20just%20for%20fun.%20%20You%20may%20see%20something%20that%20may%20inspire%20you%20to%20bake%20an%20additional%20treat%20at%20the%20last%20minute,%20or%20you%20may%20not.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20Feather%20Squares%20are%20exceptional%20and%20something%20that%20if%20you%20were%20to%20ask%20each%20of%20us%20what%20our%20favourite%20Christmas%20Treat%20is%20they%20would%20be%20if%20not%20at%20the%20top,%20very%20close%20to%20the%20top%20of%20the%20goodie%20list,%20their%20only%20drawback%20being%20that%20they%20are%20not%20something%20which%20keeps%20for%20very%20long.%20%20Usually%20only%20about%20a%20day%20or%20two%20at%20the%20most.%20%20They%20are%20fabulous%20though,%20and%20it%20just%20would%20not%20have%20been%20Christmas%20in%20our%20home%20without%20them%20.%20.%20.%20and%20even%20today%20I%20find%20myself%20wanting%20to%20bake%20them%20sometime%20during%20the%20last%20day%20or%20two%20before%20Christmas.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReally%20I%20should%20keep%20them%20for%20baking%20on%20Christmas%20Eve%20.%20.%20.%20but%20the%20child%20in%20me%20just%20cannot%20wait%20to%20dig%20into%20them.%20%20You%20have%20a%20traditional%20plain%20buttery%20sponge%20cake%20base%20.%20.%20.%20baked%20until%20golden%20brown,%20but%20still%20moist,%20and%20then%20slathered%20all%20over%20with%20sweet%20raspberry%20jam%20.%20.%20.%20(Oh%20I%20do%20love%20my%20jam!)%20%20Then%20the%20jam%20layer%20is%20covered%20with%20a%20beautiful%20marshmallow-like%20soft%20meringue,%20and%20sprinkled%20with%20flaked%20coconut.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBanged%20back%20into%20the%20oven%20to%20brown%20the%20coconut%20and%20meringue%20.%20.%20.%20so%20that%20it%20looks%20like%20a%20field%20of%20%20downy%20feathers%20.%20.%20.%20lightly%20browned%20and%20covering%20a%20fluffy%20blanket%20of%20snow%20.%20.%20.%20covering%20that%20jammy%20field%20of%20cake%20deliciousness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAltogether%20.%20.%20.%20quite,%20quite%20blissful%20.%20.%20.%20and%20festive.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20just%20would%20NOT%20be%20Christmas%20in%20our%20home%20without%20them.%20%20A%20tradition%20we%20can%20not%20give%20up.%20%20Hoping%20that%20you%20will%20give%20them%20a%20go%20and%20enjoy%20them%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Mom's%20Christmas%20Feather%20Squares*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%2012%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewas%20growing%20up,%20I%20knew%20that%20when%20these%20delicious%20bars%20were%20in%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Elarder,%20Christmas%20could%20not%20be%20too%20far%20behind.%20%20Christmas%20was%20the%20only%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etime%20my%20mother%20made%20these%20and%20we%20certainly%20looked%20forward%20to%20seeing%20them%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eevery%20year.%20%20A%20moist%20and%20delicious%20cake%20type%20base%20covered%20with%20sweet%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eraspberry%20preserves%20and%20a%20lovely%20meringue%20topped%20with%20toasted%20coconut%20on%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etop%20make%20these%20holiday%20winners!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eallow%20to%20cool%20before%20cutting%20into%20squares%20with%20a%20wet%20knife.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
