Since I post links to my food and travel blogs on Facebook, I often gets ads on the sidebar for these subjects. One day the ad for "Miracle Noodles" showed up, I was curious, so clicked on the link. Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar, improves digestion; well now, this is something I could definitely benefit from. On the official website ( http://www.miraclenoodle.com/ ) there is a special offer for a variety pack of six types of noodles and rice, each contains two servings. Personally, I wasn't too fond of several of the flavors, and purchased what I really wanted to try out elsewhere.

%20there%20is%20a%20special%20offer%20for%20a%20variety%20pack%20of%20six%20types%20of%20noodles%20and%20rice,%20each%20contains%20two%20servings.%20%20Personally,%20I%20wasn't%20too%20fond%20of%20several%20of%20the%20flavors,%20and%20purchased%20what%20I%20really%20wanted%20to%20try%20out%20elsewhere.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20what%20is%20this%20%22miracle%22%20stuff%20anyway?%20%20Glucomannan%20which%20comes%20from%20the%20root%20of%20the%20Asian%20yam-like%20plant%20called%20Konjac%20(full%20name%20Amorphophallus%20konjac).%20And%20this%20means%20what%20to%20me?%20%20Glucomannan%20is%20a%20water-soluble%20polysaccharide%20that%20is%20considered%20a%20dietary%20fiber.%20It%20is%20a%20hemicellulose%20component%20in%20the%20cell%20walls%20of%20some%20plant%20species.%20Glucomannan%20is%20a%20food%20additive%20used%20as%20an%20emulsifier%20and%20thickener.%20Products%20containing%20glucomannan,%20marketed%20under%20a%20variety%20of%20brand%20names,%20are%20also%20sold%20as%20nutritional%20supplements%20for%20constipation,%20obesity,%20high%20cholesterol,%20acne%20vulgaris%20and%20type%202%20diabetes.%20%20You%20know%20that%20commercial%20for%20Lipozene....it's%20glucomannan,%20and%20you%20can%20buy%20it%20more%20cheaply%20as%20a%20supplement%20than%20as%20a%20diet%20aid.%20%20Now%20you%20know!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20packet%20I%20chose%20to%20cook%20up%20was%20the%20%22Miracle%20Rice%22%20which%20look%20more%20like%20tiny%20pearls%20(round)%20than%20actual%20grains%20of%20rice.%20%20I%20followed%20the%20directions%20for%20cleaning%20and%20wondered%20why%20it%20had%20such%20a%20fishy%20smell%20to%20it;%20seems%20it's%20just%20a%20natural%20smell%20of%20the%20plant%20fiber.%20%20I%20had%20already%20planned%20to%20make%20an%20Asian%20style%20dish%20with%20shrimp%20and%20sugar%20snap%20peas;%20how%20appropriate%20was%20the%20shrimp%20with%20the%20fishy%20smelling%20%22rice%22!?!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimple%20recipe,%20took%20out%20my%20Wok%20and%20saut%C3%A9ed%20one%20pound%20of%20shrimp%20in%20two%20tablespoons%20of%20oil%20until%20they%20were%20a%20nice%20pink%20color.%20%20I%20then%20added%20in%20one%20and%20one%20half%20cups%20of%20the%20peas,%20a%20quarter%20cup%20of%20hoisin%20sauce%20and%20the%20Miracle%20Rice;%20tossed%20till%20all%20was%20coated%20and%20hot%20(about%20seven%20minutes)%20and%20dinner%20was%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20divided%20it%20in%20half%20with%20my%20hubby;%20his%20reaction%20about%20the%20Miracle%20Rice%20was,%20%22Eh,%20not%20great,%20but%20not%20lousy.%20%20It%20absorbed%20the%20taste%20of%20the%20hoisin%20sauce%20well,%20so%20it's%20not%20bland.%22%20%20I%20felt%20basically%20the%20same%20way,%20nothing%20special%20taste%20wise,%20but%20than%20the%20miracle%20happened.%20%20I'd%20eaten%20only%20half%20of%20my%20serving%20and%20felt%20full;%20and%20that%20is%20what%20the%20glucomannan%20is%20all%20about.%20%20It%20swells%20up%20and%20gives%20you%20a%20full%20feeling,%20so%20you%20don't%20overeat,%20or%20even%20eat%20an%20entire%20portion.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20claim%20to%20%22aid%20digestion%22;%20well%20that's%20when%20the%20second%20miracle%20happened,%20spending%20time%20in%20the%20bathroom%20as%20it%20makes%20you%20GO!%20%20So%20my%20warning%20for%20this%20product%20is,%20if%20you%20have%20somewhere%20to%20be%20the%20next%20day,%20make%20sure%20spending%20time%20in%20the%20bathroom%20won't%20be%20a%20problem%20for%20you.%20%20...and%20there's%20the%20rub,%20as%20much%20as%20I'd%20like%20to%20use%20this%20product%20for%20its%20benefits,%20my%20schedule%20doesn't%20allow%20for%20me%20to%20live%20in%20the%20bathroom%20every%20morning.%20%20I%20use%20it%20occasionally,%20that's%20fine,%20but%20on%20a%20daily%20basis%20simply%20can't%20be.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20opinion%20for%20this%20product%20is,%20for%20the%20benefits,%20I%20will%20use%20it%20when%20I%20can.%20%20For%20others,%20I%20say%20read%20up%20on%20the%20product%20and%20make%20sure%20this%20can%20be%20beneficial,%20and%20you%20don't%20mind%20being%20in%20the%20bathroom%20several%20times%20in%20the%20morning.%20%20It's%20definitely%20NOT%20Ramen%20noodles,%20so%20don't%20make%20that%20mistake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMary%20Cokenour%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
