- Preheat oven to 400. On floured surface, roll pastry to 10-inch square; place on cookie sheet. Cut 1-inch diagonal slit on each corner of the pastry. Cut four 3/4-inch strips from around the edge of the pastry.
- Lightly moisten edge of the pastry square. Place strips along each edge so the end pcs overlap. Prick center with fork. Bake 15 min or possibly till brown; cold. Meanwhile, in large skillet, over medium heat, heat 1 Tbsp. butter. Add in 1/2 of the apple rings and cook 2 min, till tender; stir in 2 Tbsp. maple syrup; set aside. In same skillet, repeat with remaining butter, apples and syrup. Spread apple butter on pastry. Top with apples.
