%20If%20you%20don't%20want%20to%20be%20tempted%20by%20keeping%20leftovers%20in%20your%20house,%20then%20your%20coworkers%20are%20sure%20to%20be%20ever%20so%20helpful%20in%20taking%20care%20of%20it%20for%20you%20(mine%20sure%20where).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThough%20I%20haven't%20been%20writing%20for%20The%20Hungry%20Hutch%20over%20the%20past%20couple%20of%20weeks,%20I%20have%20had%20the%20opportunity%20to%20contribute%20elsewhere%20on%20the%20internet.%20One%20piece%20was%20for%20the%20International%20Culinary%20Center's%20blog%20about%20my%20path%20to%20working%20at%20Momofuku.%20I%20was%20also%20featured%20in%20Good%20Food%20Job's%20weekly%20newsletter%20in%20an%20interview%20covering%20some%20of%20the%20same%20topics%20in%20terms%20of%20my%20decision%20to%20work%20in%20food.%20And%20if%20you're%20ever%20in%20dire%20need%20for%20more%20of%20me%20in%20between%20posts,%20be%20sure%20to%20check%20out%20what%20I've%20been%20up%20to%20on%20Instagram,%20Facebook,%20and%20Twitter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20Cake%20Ingredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Adapted%20from%20The%20Baker's%20Manual,%20Fifth%20Edition)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProcedure:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%CB%9AF.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20together%20butter,%20sugar,%20and%20lemon%20zest%20(I%20added%20all%20of%20the%20zest%20from%20the%20lemons%20I%20used%20to%20juice,%20which%20is%20probably%20more%20than%20the%201%20Tbsp.)%20Add%20in%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESift%20together%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20and%20salt.%20Alternately%20add%20the%20dry%20and%20wet%20ingredients,%20starting%20and%20ending%20with%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrease%20and%20flour%20two%20round%20cake%20pans.%20Evenly%20divide%20the%20batter%20between%20the%20pans%20and%20bake%20for%2035-40%20minutes,%20or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20in%20the%20middle%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20on%20a%20rack%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20Cheese%20Frosting:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20sticks%20of%20unsalted%20butter,%20softened%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20-%208%20oz.%20packages%20of%20cream%20cheese,%20softened%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cup%20powdered%20sugar%20(or%20more%20to%20taste)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProcedure:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20together%20butter%20and%20cheese.%20On%20low%20speed,%20mix%20in%20sugar%20until%20fully%20incorporated,%20adding%20more%20if%20wanted%20to%20reach%20desired%20sweetness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20trick%20to%20getting%20the%20cake%20to%20sit%20flat%20on%20the%20plate%20is%20to%20cut%20the%20top%20off%20of%20one%20of%20them%20and%20place%20it%20upside%20down%20(see%20earlier%20picture).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrost%20the%20top%20of%20the%20bottom%20layer,%20add%20the%20second%20layer%20of%20cake,%20and%20continue%20to%20frost%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20and%20enjoy.%20The%20cake%20can%20be%20stored%20at%20room%20temperate%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20days.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
