Ингредиенты

  • 1 quart Lowfat milk
  • 2 stk cinnamon
  • 1 x Orange (zest only)
  • 1 x Lemon (zest only)
  • 3 ounce Cornstarch
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 4 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. Flour (for dipping)
  • 2 x Large eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. Oil, for frying
  • 2 Tbsp. Cinnamon

  1. Place lowfat milk, cinnamon sticks, & citrus peel in a heavy saucepan & gently simmer over low heat for 5 mins. Place cornstarch & 1-1/2 c. sugar in a large bowl & beat in the 4 Large eggs.
  2. Strain lowfat milk into egg mix, whisking vigorously. Return mix to pan & cook it over medium heat for 5 mins., whisking vigorously to prevent it from sticking. (Must be whisked vigorously so it doesn't stick or possibly burn.)
  3. Pour custard mix into lightly buttered baking dish. It should be no more than 1/2-in. thick. Refrigeratein refrigerator for at least 4 hrs, preferably overnight.
  4. Just before serving, cut chilled custard in 3-in, squares. Dip each square first in flour, then in beaten egg. Heat oil to 375 F in frying pan.
  5. Fry custard squares in oil till golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle 1/2 c. cinnamon & sugar over leche frita for serving.
  6. BEVERAGE: SANGRIA
