- 1kg corned beef
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- steamed vegetables, to serve

- Place beef in a large saucepan. Cover with cold water. Place saucepan over high heat. Cover. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, partially covered, for 1 hour or until tender. Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced.
- Remove beef from water. Transfer to a baking dish. Press cloves into beef. Drizzle with maple syrup. Season with pepper. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden. Remove and discard cloves. Slice beef. Serve with steamed vegetables and drizzled with pan juices.
