- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

%20%20I%20do%20have%20a%20project%20in%20mind%20for%20all%20this%20wool%20-%20but%20I'm%20going%20to%20keep%20it%20under%20wraps%20for%20now...just%20know%20that%20I'm%20not%20twiddling%20my%20thumbs%20-%20or%20as%20my%20Scottish%20friend%20might%20say,%20I'm%20beavering%20away%20and%20I'll%20show%20you%20what%20I'm%20up%20to%20soon.%20%20In%20the%20meantime,%20a%20girl%20has%20to%20eat..and%20all%20that%20red%20wool%20had%20me%20seeing%20red...so%20I%20made%20Italian%20Tomato%20Rolls...not%20quite%20red%20but%20a%20lovely%20shade%20just%20the%20same.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20a%20cinch%20to%20make%20if%20you%20have%20a%20food%20processor,%20if%20not,%20you%20will%20have%20to%20knead%20the%20dough%20a%20bit%20but%20then%20you%20can%20eat%20an%20extra%20roll%20because%20of%20the%20calories%20you%20burned%20from%20kneading.%20%20After%20the%20yeast%20starts%20to%20foam,%20all%20of%20the%20remaining%20ingredients%20are%20put%20into%20the%20food%20processor%20at%20once%20and%20it%20mixes%20the%20dough%20and%20does%20the%20kneading%20for%20you.%20%20I%20love%20my%20food%20processor.%20%20Love%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20how%20I%20wish%20we%20all%20had%20a%20smell%20button%20on%20our%20keyboards!%20%20You%20just%20wouldn't%20believe%20how%20wonderfully%20fragrant%20these%20rolls%20are...made%20with%20pizza%20sauce,%20they%20will%20remind%20you%20of%20a%20pizza,%20but%20they're%20light%20and%20fluffy%20...and%20even%20better%20the%20next%20day%20slathered%20in%20butter.%20%20These%20are%20a%20great%20accompaniment%20to%20any%20soup%20or%20salad...or%20a%20pile%20of%20red%20felted%20wool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20dissolve%20yeast%20and%201%20teaspoon%20sugar%20in%20warm%20water;%20let%20stand%20for%205%20minutes.%20%20(If%20using%20a%20food%20processor%20add%20the%20yeast,%20sugar%20and%20water%20to%20the%20food%20processor%20bowl.)%20%20Let%20stand%20for%205%20minutes.%20%20Add%20pizza%20sauce,%201/4%20cup%20butter,%20egg,%20salt,%20basil,%202%20cups%20flour%20and%20remaining%20sugar,%20beat%20with%20a%20wooden%20spoon%20until%20smooth.%20%20(If%20using%20a%20food%20processor,%20process%20until%20smooth,%20using%20the%20dough%20blade.)%20%20Stir%20in%20enough%20remaining%20flour%20to%20form%20a%20firm%20dough.%20%20(Add%20flour%20to%20the%20food%20processor%20until%20the%20dough%20forms%20into%20a%20large%20ball,%20process%20for%20about%2020%20seconds,%20until%20dough%20is%20nice%20and%20elastic,%20but%20not%20sticky;%20add%20a%20bit%20more%20flour%20if%20needed.)%20%20%20Turn%20dough%20out%20onto%20floured%20surface.%20%20Knead%20until%20smooth%20and%20elastic,%20about%206%20to%208%20minutes.%20%20(Knead%20only%20once%20or%20twice%20after%20removing%20from%20the%20food%20processor,%20just%20enough%20to%20form%20a%20nice%20ball.)%20%20Place%20in%20a%20greased%20bowl,%20turning%20once%20to%20grease%20top.%20%20Cover%20and%20let%20rise%20in%20a%20warm%20place%20until%20doubled,%20about%201%201/2%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPunch%20the%20dough%20down.%20%20Turn%20onto%20a%20lightly%20floured%20surface;%20divide%20into%2016%20pieces.%20%20Shape%20each%20piece%20into%20a%202-inch%20ball.%20%20Place%202%20inches%20apart%20on%20greased%20baking%20sheets.%20%20Cover%20and%20let%20rise%20until%20dough%20doubles,%20about%2030%20minutes.%20%20Bake%20at%20400%20degrees%20for%2010%20to%2012%20minutes%20or%20until%20top%20is%20golden%20brown.%20%20Remove%20from%20pans%20to%20wire%20racks.%20%20Brush%20with%20remaining%20butter.%20%20Makes%2016%20rolls.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%22In%20order%20to%20be%20irreplaceable,%20one%20must%20always%20be%20different.%22%20%20~%20Coco%20Chanel%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20year%20ago:%20%20Brown%20Sugar%20Pound%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETwo%20years%20ago:%20%20Baked%20Babyback%20Ribs%20With%20Mario's%20Kick-ass%20BBQ%20Sauce%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
