I am so happy to have found this recipe! I have an eldery italian client who talks about all the old dishes her family made, and she told her her favorite was when her Uncle showed up with a greasy brown paper bag. She knew it meant he brought her pizza freetz (as she pronounced it).
She said he made them sweet with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar and sometimes with olive oil, garlic and parmesan. I have wanted to make them and surprise her with a taste of her childhood and now I can! Thank you for sharing this recipe
That is so cool for you to write that ... and you just brought back my many memories of the grease on the outside of the bag, they use to be piping hot and we would burn the roof of our mouths no way we could wait to eat them! Pizza Fritte is the best! thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment
