%20don%E2%80%99t%20you%20ask%20for%20your%20McGriddle%20with%20cheese?%20Or%20your%20McMuffin?%20I%20know%20I%20do.%20So%20the%20combination%20didn%E2%80%99t%20seem%20at%20all%20strange%20to%20me.%20Although%20the%20hubs%20did%20look%20at%20me%20a%20little%20funny.%20I%20chose%20to%20let%20him%20stew%20with%20it%20instead%20of%20trying%20to%20explain%20my%20logic%20to%20him.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESO,%20I%20added%20about%20a%20half%20a%20cup%20of%20shredded%20sharp%20cheddar%20directly%20in%20the%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20his%20suggestion%20for%20a%20bacon%20waffle,%20he%20says%20(as%20in%20the%20internet%20version%20I%20found)%20to%20lay%20a%20couple%20of%20slices%20of%20bacon%20across%20the%20uncooked%20batter%20before%20closing%20the%20lid%20on%20the%20waffle%20iron.%20He%20also%20says%20the%20bacon%20cooks%20along%20with%20the%20batter,%20implying%20that%20it%20would%20be%20raw%20bacon%20I%20am%20putting%20on%20the%20waffle%20batter.%20Not%20that%20I%20have%20a%20problem%20with%20raw%20bacon,%20I%20don%E2%80%99t,%20but%20in%20the%20other%20version%20I%20saw,%20the%20writer%20specifically%20stated%20that%20it%20was%20cooked%20bacon%20she%20added.%20Hmmm...confused.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20either%20case,%20I%20decided%20that%20I%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20sure%20if%20I%20liked%20the%20idea%20of%20whole%20slices%20of%20bacon%20seared%20to%20the%20side%20of%20a%20waffle.%20I%E2%80%99m%20envisioning%20a%20whole%20strip%20breaking%20loose%20and%20hitting%20me%20in%20the%20chin%20with%20a%20maple%20syrup%20coated%20%E2%80%9Cthwack!%E2%80%9D%20and%20frankly,%20that%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20strike%20me%20as%20an%20appealing%20scenario.%20Plus,%20how%20do%20you%20guarantee%20that%20you%20get%20bacon%20in%20every%20bite?%20Or%20waffle?%20I%20was%20thinking%20the%20bacon%20should%20complement%20the%20waffle,%20instead%20of%20either%20playing%20second%20fiddle,%20or%20overshadowing%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20know%20what%20I%20did?%20I%20cooked%20my%20bacon%20up%20all%20nice%20and%20crispy.%20Then%20I%20crushed%20it%20up%20into%20yummy%20little%20bacon%20bits.%20Then%20I%20sprinkled%20the%20bits%20over%20the%20batter%20so%20they%20would%20end%20up%20in%20every%20little%20crevice%20of%20the%20waffle.%20The%20result?%20Well,%20you%E2%80%99re%20just%20going%20to%20have%20to%20try%20it%20yourself%20and%20find%20out,%20because%20you%20can%E2%80%99t%20have%20mine...%20don%E2%80%99t%20even%20try...%20I%20WILL%20stab%20you%20with%20my%20fork...%20Its%20friggin%E2%80%99%20genius,%20is%20what%20it%20is.%20I%E2%80%99m%20tempted%20not%20to%20even%20show%20you%20these%20pictures.%20But,%20because%20I%E2%80%99m%20a%20sick,%20sadistic%20kind%20of%20bitch...%20I%E2%80%99m%20going%20to%20anyway.%20Go%20ahead....%20drool.....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuick%20and%20Easy%20Waffles%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efrom%20How%20to%20Cook%20Everything%20by%20Mark%20Bittman%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrush%20the%20waffle%20iron%20lightly%20with%20oil%20and%20preheat%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%20Mix%20together%20the%20milk%20and%20eggs.%20Stir%20in%20the%20butter%20(and%20vanilla,%20if%20using).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20the%20wet%20into%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%20If%20the%20mixture%20seems%20a%20little%20too%20thick%20to%20pour,%20add%20a%20little%20more%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20a%20ladleful%20or%20so%20of%20batter%20onto%20the%20waffle%20iron%20and%20bake%20until%20the%20waffle%20is%20done,%20usually%203%20to%205%20minutes,%20depending%20on%20your%20iron.Variations:Add%20grated%20mild%20cheese,%20such%20as%20Cheddar%20or%20Jack,%20about%20one%20cup%20per%20batch%20of%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELay%202%20or%203%20strips%20of%20bacon%20across%20the%20batter%20after%20spreading%20onto%20the%20waffle%20iron%20and%20before%20closing%20the%20lid.%20Bacon%20will%20cook%20along%20with%20the%20waffles;%20cooking%20time%20may%20be%20a%20minute%20or%20two%20longer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20my%20submission%20for%20this%20week's%20%22Better%20with%20Bacon%22%20theme%20for%20I%20Heart%20Cooking%20Clubs.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
