%20wrote%20about%20this%20recipe:%20%20%22It%20has%20a%20buttery,%20flaky,%20crispy%20strudel%20crust%20made%20of%20phyllo...with%20a%20moist%20filling%20of%20sauteed%20cabbage%20that's%20simultaneously%20sweet,%20savory,%20and%20completely%20unexpected,%20like%20all%20good%20things.%22%20%20I%20couldn't%20agree%20more!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20a%20simple%20recipe%20and%20truthfully%20I%20didn't%20expect%20to%20like%20it%20as%20much%20as%20I%20did.%20%20Cabbage%20is%20roasted,%20in%20butter,%20with%20only%20salt%20and%20pepper%20for%20seasoning,%20then%20it's%20rolled%20up%20into%2010%20sheets%20of%20phyllo...butter%20on%20every%20sheet%20and%20then%20more%20on%20top...buttah...and%20then%20it's%20baked%20until%20it's%20golden...truly%20a%20delight%20for%20the%20senses.%20%20Nora%20(I'm%20now%20on%20a%20first%20name%20basis%20with%20her%20and%20even%20though%20she%20passed%20away%20last%20year,%20I%20feel%20since%20we%20have%20the%20love%20of%20this%20strudel%20in%20common%20she%20would%20insist%20on%20me%20calling%20her%20Nora)%20loved%20this%20strudel%20and%20was%20devastated%20when%20the%20shop%20that%20sold%20it%20closed%20it's%20door.%20%20She%20tried%20for%20years%20to%20find%20a%20recipe%20that%20would%20taste%20as%20good%20as%20the%20one%20she%20bought%20in%20Mrs.%20Herbst's%20Deli%20and%20she%20never%20did.%20%20Years%20went%20by%20and%20one%20day%20a%20friend%20told%20her%20that%20Cabbage%20Strudel,%20just%20like%20Mrs.%20Herbst's%20made,%20was%20being%20sold%20at%20Andre's%20Bakery%20in%20Manhattan%20on%20Second%20Avenue%20and%20Eighty-fifth%20Street...and%20this%20is%20what%20she%20had%20to%20say%20when%20she%20tasted%20her%20beloved%20strudel%20at%20Andre's:%20%20%22Tasting%20it%20again%20was%20like%20being%20able%20to%20turn%20back%20the%20clock,%20like%20having%20the%20consequences%20of%20a%20mistake%20erased;%20it%20was%20better%20than%20getting%20a%20blouse%20back%20that%20the%20dry%20cleaners%20had%20lost,%20or%20a%20cell%20phone%20returned%20that%20had%20been%20left%20in%20a%20taxi,%20it%20was%20a%20validation%20of%20never-giving-up%20and%20of%20hope-springing-eternal;%20it%20was%20many%20things,%20it%20was%20all%20things,%20it%20was%20nothing%20at%20all;%20but%20mostly,%20it%20was%20cabbage%20strudel.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECabbage%20and%20buttered%20pastry...what%20could%20be%20more%20simple%20and%20taste%20so%20good?%20%20Nothing.%20%20It's%20everything%20Nora%20said%20it%20would%20be%20and%20then%20some.%20%20But%20wait...there's%20more!%20%20I%20not%20only%20made%20this%20strudel%20last%20week,%20I%20made%20it%20again%20last%20night%20and%20this%20time%20I%20decided%20to%20add%20in%20a%20few%20more%20veggies...not%20that%20it%20needed%20it,%20but%20I%20wanted%20to%20see%20if%20maybe%20I%20could%20get%20the%20mister%20and%20the%20boy%20to%20eat%20it%20if%20I%20called%20it%20Vegetable%20Strudel%20(I%20took%20the%20Cabbage%20Strudel%20to%20my%20book%20club%20meeting%20and%20there%20wasn't%20one%20crumb%20left%20to%20bring%20home%20but%20even%20so,%20I'm%20not%20sure%20the%20mister%20would%20have%20eaten%20it%20-%20he's%20a%20cabbage%20hater)%20so%20I%20added%20in%20some%20chopped%20carrot,%20potato,%20mushroom,%20onion%20and%20roasted%20it%20all%20with%20the%20cabbage.%20%20It%20was%20heavenly...heavenly%20I%20tell%20you!%20%20And%20the%20mister%20ate%20it%20and%20loved%20it!%20So%20I%20will%20give%20you%20both%20versions,%20they%20both%20excellent%20and%20would%20be%20great%20served%20with%20a%20cup%20of%20soup...file%20this%20one%20in%20Comfort%20Foods,%20that's%20what%20they%20are!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHungarian%20Cabbage%20Strudel%20-%20Adapted%20From%20Food.Com%20via%20Andre%20Heimann%20via%20Mrs.%20Herbsts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees.%20Line%20a%20rimmed%20baking%20sheet%20with%20aluminum%20foil,%20enough%20to%20pull%20up%20and%20over%20cabbage%20to%20completely%20seal.%20%20Spread%20shredded%20cabbage%20over%20foil.%20%20Cut%20up%201%20stick%20of%20butter%20into%20small%20pieces%20and%20sprinkle%20over%20cabbage.%20%20Season%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20%20Cover%20with%20foil,%20wrapping%20up%20and%20over%20and%20crimping%20the%20edges%20to%20seal.%20%20Roast%20in%20oven%20for%2045%20to%2050%20minutes,%20occasionally%20lifting%20foil%20and%20mixing%20cabbage,%20then%20resealing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20heat,%20uncover%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20to%20room%20temperature.%20%20Turn%20oven%20to%20400%20degrees.%20%20Melt%20remaining%20stick%20of%20butter%20in%20microwave.%20%20Place%20a%20sheet%20of%20parchment%20paper%20on%20a%20rimmed%20baking%20sheet%20and%20top%20with%201%20sheet%20of%20phyllo%20dough.%20%20Brush%20sheet%20of%20phyllo%20with%20melted%20butter,%20up%20and%20down,%20spreading%20evenly.%20Top%20with%20another%20sheet%20of%20phyllo%20and%20brush%20again%20with%20butter.%20%20Repeat%20until%20all%2010%20sheets%20are%20buttered%20and%20stacked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EArrange%20cabbage%20on%20dough,%20starting%20at%20the%20long%20end,%20roll%20phyllo,%20with%20the
