- 1 Cup Vegetable Oil for frying
- 1 cup water
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup walnuts

%20%20When%20I%20made%20this%20dish%20before%20I%20wasn't%20as%20patient%20with%20the%20shrimp%20when%20I%20coated%20it%20with%20the%20cornstarch%20mixture.%20%20This%20time%20I%20took%20my%20time%20and%20dipped%20them%20one%20by%20one%20and%20let%20the%20batter%20drip%20off%20before%20placing%20it%20in%20the%20hot%20oil.%20%20This%20allowed%20me%20to%20have%20individual%20pieces%20of%20battered%20shrimp%20instead%20of%20them%20sticking%20together.%20%20I%20also%20adjusted%20the%20sauce%20a%20little%20bit.%20%20I%20have%20to%20say%20I%20think%20this%20is%20the%20best%20I%20have%20ever%20made%20this%20recipe!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHoney%20Walnut%20Shrimp%20-%20Revisited%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20walnuts.%20%20Bring%201%20cup%20water%20and%20sugar%20to%20a%20boil.%20%20Add%20walnuts.%20%20Bring%20back%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20boil%20for%202%20minutes.%20%20Remove%20from%20heat%20and%20drain%20water.%20%20Place%20walnuts%20on%20a%20cookie%20sheet%20to%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20and%20devein%20shrimp.%20%20Rinse%20and%20pat%20dry.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20egg%20whites%20until%20slightly%20foamy.%20%20Stir%20in%20cornstarch,%201/3%20cup%20at%20a%20time.%20%20If%20cornstarch%20mixture%20starts%20to%20stiffen%20you%20can%20thin%20it%20out%20some%20with%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20cold%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20oil%20to%20350%20degrees.%20%20Place%20shrimp%20in%20cornstarch%20mixture%20and%20remove%20pieces%20with%20fork,%20letting%20coating%20drip%20off%20so%20you%20don't%20have%20a%20really%20thick%20crust.%20%20Place%20in%20hot%20oil,%20repeat%20with%20remaining%20shrimp.%20%20Turn%20pieces%20several%20times%20until%20shrimp%20coating%20is%20browned.%20%20Be%20cautious%20as%20you%20are%20cooking%20the%20shrimp%20as%20sometimes%20the%20oil%20will%20snap%20and%20pop%20right%20out%20of%20the%20pan.%20%20Have%20a%20lid%20nearby%20to%20partially%20cover%20pan%20if%20necessary%20to%20prevent%20grease%20from%20popping%20out%20of%20the%20pan.%20%20This%20is%20where%20a%20deep%20fryer%20with%20thermostat%20control%20and%20a%20cover%20works%20well!%20%20I%20have%20one%20of%20them%20but%20I%20am%20lazy%20(yes%20I%20admit%20it)%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20pulling%20it%20out%20and%20filling%20it%20with%20grease.%20%20I'd%20rather%20use%20a%20small%20pan%20with%20less%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20shrimp%20is%20cooked,%20mix%20mayonnaise,%20honey,%20and%20sweetened%20condensed%20milk%20together.%20%20Pour%20over%20top%20of%20hot%20shrimp.%20%20Add%20sugared%20walnuts%20and%20toss%20to%20coat%20shrimp%20and%20walnuts%20with%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20shrimp%20is%20cooking,%20rinse%20broccoli%20and%20place%20in%20a%20microwave%20safe%20bowl%20with%20a%20lid.%20%20Add%20about%202%20tablespoons%20of%20water%20to%20broccoli,%20cover,%20and%20microwave%20for%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EArrange%20broccoli%20on%20serving%20plate,%20top%20with%20Honey%20Walnut%20Shrimp%20Mixture%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
