%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20tiny,%20fanciful,%20good-natured%20brown%20elf%20who%20secretly%20helps%20at%20night%20with%20household%20chores.%20(not%20that%20kind%20either%20but%20we%20can%20come%20back%20to%20this%20one%20later)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20small,%20chewy,%20cake-like%20cookie,%20usually%20made%20with%20chocolate.%20YES...thats%20what%20I%20needed%20to%20hear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhy?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBecause%20this%20recipe%20calls%20for%20a%20cake%20mix.%20And%20it%20calls%20itself%20a%20Brownie.%20And%20I%20wanted%20to%20make%20sure%20it%20really%20is%20a%20brownie%20before%20I%20spread%20the%20word.%20Cuz%20these%20are%20sooo%20yummy.%20And%20waaaay%20easy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20once%20met%20a%20gal%20in%20BakeSpace%20named%20Mary,%20and%20we%20continued%20our%20friendship%20into%20Facebook.%20She's%20a%20funny%20gal,%20witty%20and%20outrageous%20and%20for%20some%20reason%20keeps%20proclaiming%20that%20she%20can't%20cook.%20Or%20something%20to%20that%20affect.%20I%20dunno...she's%20nuts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20point%20is,%20she%20shared%20a%20recipe%20called%20Peanut%20Butter%20Brownies.%20And%20of%20course%20that%20got%20my%20attention.%20I%20have%20this%20weakness%20love%20for%20peanut%20butter%20and%20chocolate.%20(and%20it%20really%20bums%20me%20out%20that%20reeses%20pieces%20gives%20me%20a%20tummy%20ache%20if%20I%20eat%20more%20than%20like.....5%20of%20them.%20Does%20that%20happen%20to%20anyone%20else?).%20Now%20you%20might%20be%20wondering%20why%20these%20are%20Hazelnut%20Brownies%20if%20my%20love%20is%20in%20the%20peanut%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20arena.%20Just%20hang....it'll%20make%20sense%20in%20a%20minute.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20needed%20an%20excuse,%20a%20reason,%20a%20justification.%20Well%20crap....I%20just%20needed%20to%20feel%20better%20about%20making%20them%20cuz%20my%20girls,%20even%20though%20they'd%20chow%20down%20on%20them%20in%20minutes,%20would%20give%20me%20crap%20about%20making%20stuff%20%22that's%20not%20healthy%22%20(eye%20roll).%20And%20I%20only%20wanted%20to%20taste%20them.%20I%20didn't%20want%20to.....%20taunt%20myself%20with%20them%20and%20end%20up%20eating%20bunches%20of%20them.%20I%20didn't%20really%20need%20to%20make%20them.%20But%20I%20really%20wanted%20to.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThus%20comes%20the%20sought%20after%20reason.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20gal%20at%20work%20(ya...we'll%20blame%20the%20working%20gal).%20She%20was%20leaving%20the%20company%20and%20moving%20on%20to%20other%20pastures.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20sad.%20:(%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20here%20it%20is....my%20REASON!%20I'll%20make%20her%20some%20%22Going%20Away%20Brownies%22.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E::::::::::Happy%20Dance::::::::::%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20for%20some%20odd,%20out%20of%20the%20blue,%20unknown%20reason,%20I%20asked%20her.%20%22Do%20you%20like%20peanut%20butter?%22%20Her%20reply,%20%22No.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eoooooh.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20by%20now,%20my%20head%20is%20in%20full%20gear....I%20am%20mentally%20committed%20to%20this%20recipe.%20There's%20no%20stopping%20me%20now.%20But%20I%20have%20to%20go%20to%20plan%20B.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course,%20I%20have%20to%20think%20of%20a%20plan%20B%20before%20I%20go%20there.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20the%20original%20recipe%20calls%20for%20peanut%20butter%20and%20Nutella,%20or%20some%20peanut%20butter%20chocolate%20thing.%20Ok.%20We%20can%20keep%20the%20Nutella%20for%20sure.%20Maybe%20I%20can%20find%20some%20sort%20of%20chocolate%20spread%20thing%20that%20can%20replace%20the%20peanut%20butter.%20Chocolate%20syrup....eeeehhhh,%20not%20so%20sure.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20that%20floating%20around%20in%20my%20head,%20I%20set%20off%20to%20do%20my%20weekend%20shopping.%20My%20firsts%20stop%20was%20the%20%22international%22%20market.%20I%20usually%20stick%20to%20the%20meat%20counter,%20the%20produce%20section%20and%20the%20spice%20isle.%20This%20day%20I%20went%20down%20all%20the%20isles.%20I%20saw%20the%20Nutella%20and%20plopped%20it%20into%20my%20cart,%20when%20something%20creamy%20and%20interesting%20lured%20my%20eyes%20over%20to%20the%20left%20just%20a%20little.....Armella.%20A%20creamy%20hazelnut%20spread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhoooaaa!!!%20Does%20anyone%20else%20know%20about%20this%20stuff?!%20(and%20you%20haven't%20told%20me?%20whats%20the%20matter%20with%20you!)%20It's%20Nutella%20without%20the%20chocolate.%20%20It's%20amazing.%20It's%20exactly%20what%20I%20need%20for%20these%20non-peanut%20butter%20brownies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350'%20F%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20cake%20mix,%20eggs%20and%20oil%20until%20thoroughly%20mixed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemme%20just%20show%20you%20again%20how%20creamy%20this%20Armella%20is%20before%20we%20add%20it%20to%20the%20recipe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20you%20just%20want%20to%20stick%20your%20finger%20in%20there%20and%20taste%20it's%20creaminess?%20(and%20who%20said%20food%20isn't%20sexy?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20Nutella%20and%20Armella%20to%20the%20cake%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20until%20incorporated.%20But%20I%20didn't%20mix%20it%20thoroughly%20(because%20Mary%20said%20she%20didn't%20either)....giving%20it%20a%20%22marbled%22%20effect.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScoop%20it%20into%20a%20greased%20or%20parchment%20paper%20lined%209%20x13%20dish...and%20smoosh%20and%20spread%20(I%20use%20the%20term%20%22spread%22%20lightly%20cuz%20you'll%20have%20to%20smoosh%20and%20push%20more%20than%20spread)%20the%20very%20thick%20batter%20to%20the%20edges%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20a%20350'%20F%20oven%20for%20about%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20to%20cool%20before%20removing%20from%20the%20pan%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20into%20squares,%20eat%20a%20few,%20especially%20the%20%22messy%22%20looking%20ones%20along%20the%20edges%20and%20send%20the%20rest%20to%20a%20co-worker%20who%20is%20leaving,%20whom%20you%20will%20miss%20cuz%20she's%20so%20sweet%20and%20has%20a%20wonderful%20smile%20and%20you%20always%20want%20to%20keep%20those%20kinds%20of%20people%20in%20your%20life.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20ya...and%20as%20for%20the%20elfin%20type%20brownie....%20anyone%20know%20how%20to%20go%20about%20getting%20one?%20I'm%20sure%20I%20could%20keep%20him%20busy%20for%20years%20to%20come.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
