.%20The%20whites%20are%20grilled%20and%20the%20darks%20are%20braised.%20Brought%20together%20with%20a%20tangy,%20zesty,%20simple%20dressing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20another%20wonderful%20recipe%20from%20the%20August%202013%20issue%20of%20Food%20and%20Wine%20magazine.%20Brought%20to%20you,%20in%20part,%20by%20my%20youngest%20child%20(who's%20not%20really%20a%20child%20at%20the%20tender%20age%20of%2021%20but%20she%20will%20always%20be%20my%20child).%20We%20spent%20an%20afternoon%20in%20the%20kitchen%20preparing%20a%20vegetarian%20meal%20and%20this%20was%20one%20of%20the%20dishes.%20The%20other%20dish%20was%20the%20Crabless%20Cakes%20I%20posted%20not%20long%20ago.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20ingredients%20are%20simple%20and%20few.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrilled%20Leeks%20with%20Leek-Tomato%20Salad%20&%20Citrus%20Dressing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20grill.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20the%20dark%20green%20tops%20off%20the%20leeks.%20Cut%20the%20white%20bottoms%20in%20half,%20length%20wise%20and%20run%20under%20cold%20water%20to%20remove%20an%20dirt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20the%20greens%20crosswise%201/2%22%20thick%20(toss%20out%20the%20top%20inch).%20Wash%20well.%20I%20actually%20let%20them%20soak%20in%20a%20bowl%20of%20water%20then%20scooped%20them%20out%20with%20a%20strainer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPat%20the%20white%20leek%20halves%20dry.%20Brush%20with%20EVOO%20and%20sprinkle%20with%20salt.%20Place%20on%20the%20grill%20(medium%20low%20heat),%20cover%20with%20a%20heat%20resistant%20dome%20such%20as%20a%20bowl%20or%20deep%20lid%20and%20grill%20until%20tender.%20This%20should%20take%20about%2018%20-%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20zests%20and%20juices,%20soy%20sauce%20and%202%20TB%20EVOO.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20skillet%20with%202%20TB%20of%20oil%20and%20the%20red%20pepper%20flakes.%20Add%20the%20leek%20tops%20and%20cook%20for%20about%206%20minutes%20over%20high%20heat,%20stirring%20constantly,%20until%20tender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20the%20corn%20and%20continue%20cooking%20for%202%20more%20minutes%20(still%20stirring).%20Pour%20in%20half%20of%20the%20citrus%20dressing%20and%20continue%20cooking%20until%20the%20liquid%20has%20evaporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20heat.%20Pour%20into%20a%20bowl%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20slightly.%20Once%20cooled%20a%20bit,%20add%20the%20tomatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20grilled%20leeks%20on%20a%20plate,%20drizzle%20with%20the%20remaining%20citrus%20dressing%20and%20top%20with%20the%20leek-tomato%20mixture.%20Serve%20warm.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
