%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20just%20a%20few%20of%20the%20memories%20I%20have%20from%20my%20many%20trips%20to%20Alabama,%20growing%20up.%20All%20having%20a%20huge%20impact%20on%20who%20I%20am%20today.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20month%20I%20visited%20my%20family%20in%20Alabama.%20Besides%20the%20fact%20that%20it%20had%20been%20way%20too%20long%20since%20I%20had%20last%20been%20back%20there....the%20main%20reason%20I%20went%20was%20to%20see%20my%20grandmother.%20I%20needed%20to%20say%20good-bye.%20A%20week%20after%20I%20returned%20home,%20she%20left%20this%20world%20to%20be%20where%20her%20heart%20longed%20for.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEven%20though%20it%20was%20expected....the%20finality%20of%20it%20doesn't%20fail%20to%20hit%20hard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20the%20day%20of%20her%20funeral,%20(since%20I%20had%20just%20been%20there,%20I%20didn't%20fly%20back%20for%20the%20funeral)%20I%20went%20online%20to%20see%20if%20a%20local%20paper%20had%20written%20anything%20about%20her.%20What%20I%20found%20instead%20was%20one%20of%20her%20recipes!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20ironic%20is%20that?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20article%20is%20titled:%20Some%20hand-me%20downs%20are%20quite%20delicious%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20cousin%20had%20given%20one%20of%20grandmother's%20recipes%20to%20her%20mother%20in-law,%20who%20in%20turn%20had%20sent%20it%20to%20her%20local%20newspaper%20a%20while%20back.%20It%20happened%20to%20publish%20on%20the%20day%20of%20the%20funeral.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20grandmother's%20honor,%20I%20made%20her%20baked%20beans%20for%20Labor%20Day,%20and%20it%20was%20raved%20over.%20I%20was%20told%20that%20%22this%20is%20the%20way%20baked%20beans%20are%20suppose%20to%20taste%22,%20by%20a%20fellow%20'city%20girl%20with%20a%20country%20soul'%20friend%20of%20mine.%20People%20who%20don't%20normally%20eat%20baked%20beans%20enjoyed%20them.%20I%20hope%20you%20will%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMiss%20Elva's%20Baked%20Beans%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350'%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20good%20sized%20skillet,%20heat%20about%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20oil.%20Saute%20the%20onions%20and%20bell%20pepper%20until%20tender.%20Add%20the%20ground%20beef%20and%20brown,%20stirring%20occasionally.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%2013x9%20casserole%20dish,%20combine%20the%20remaining%20ingredients.%20Stir%20in%20the%20meat%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGently%20stir%20until%20combined%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20350'%20F%20for%20about%20an%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20want%20to%20make%20a%20small%20batch,%20it's%20easily%20halved%20and%20baked%20in%20an%208x8%20dish,%20baked%20for%20maybe%2030%20-%2045%20minutes?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways....for%20all%20you%20grandmother's%20out%20there....just%20do%20what%20you%20do%20and%20be%20who%20you%20are.%20Your%20grandchildren%20will%20pick%20up%20what%20they%20need%20and%20cherish%20what%20they%20learn%20from%20you,%20even%20if%20they%20don't%20know%20it%20yet.%20Life%20lessons%20are%20best%20taught%20just%20by%20living%20and%20sharing%20your%20life%20with%20those%20you%20love.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBtw....have%20I%20ever%20mentioned%20that%20ever%20since%20I%20was%20a%20child,%20I've%20always%20looked%20forward%20to%20being%20a%20grandmother?%20I%20may%20have%20mentioned%20it%20to%20y'%20all%20a%20time%20or%20two....but%20now%20you%20know%20why.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20love%20you%20grandmother!%20You%20are%20missed%20but%20a%20part%20of%20you%20will%20always%20live%20through%20your%20family.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
