  • 1 quart. scalded lowfat milk
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tins Faferine
  • 1 pound each whole candied cherries, bleached raisins, candied fruit and peel cut up

  1. Dissolve 1 (2 oz) cake of yeast when lowfat milk mix is lukewarm; let rise about 10 min. Sift 9 cups flour and 1 tbsp salt.
  2. Sift flour and salt together in very large bowl; add in a little lowfat milk mix at a time. Add in large eggs and remaining lowfat milk mix, then add in fruit. Mix thoroughly and knead for a little while.Let stand and rise. Punch down and let rise again. Divide the dough and braid it. Put in pans and let rise again. Makes 4-5 large loaves of braided bread. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.
