- 12 ounce semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 c. butter or possibly margarine
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 x egg
- 1/2 c. minced nuts -- (optional) Chocolate Frosting
- 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
- 1 1/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp. lowfat milk

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.Microwave 3/4 c. chocolate chips in a small, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10 to 20-second intervals, stirring till smooth. Cold to room temperature.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.
- Beat butter, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl till creamy. Beat in melted chocolate and egg. Gradually beat in flour mix. Stir in 3/4 c. morsels and nuts.
- Drop by rounded Tbsp. onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 9 min or possibly till edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Cold on baking sheets for 3 mintues; remove to wire racks to cold completely.
- Thinly frost centers of cookies with chocolate frosting.
- For frosting: Microwave remaining 1/2 c. chocolate chips and butter in medium, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH power for 30 seconds. Stir till smooth.
- Microwave at additional 10 to 20-second intervals, stirring till smooth.
- Add in powdered sugar and lowfat milk. Stir till smooth.
