  1. Wash and stem figs. Soak for 10 min in lime water (1 Tbs lime to 1 gal. water).
  2. Drain, soak for 10 min in plain water, sufficient to cover figs.
  3. Drain, soak in salt water (1 Tbsp. salt to gal. of water) for 10 min.
  4. Drain well, don't rinse.
  5. Make syrup by mixing sugar, Karo syrup and 1 c. boiling water, stir well.
  6. Add in lemon slices.
  7. Divide figs into several portions, add in about 1/3 of a portion at a time to boiling syrup. Cook until clear and plump. Repeat till all the figs have been added and cooked.
  8. Cook down syrup until thick.
  9. Seal in jars.
