- 2 c. water or possibly fruit juice
- 2 c. raisins
- 1 c. prunes, optional
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoon soda
- 4 c. flour
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 1/2 c. nuts
- 3 tbsp. hot water

- Boil sugar, water, raisins, salt, spices 3 min. Cold. Add in flour, baking pwdr, soda dissolved in hot water, nuts. Bake 1 1/2 hrs in 325 degree oven, using 8 x 12 inch pan.
