Hearty cookie, easy for packing to ship. A very common Greek cookie, served for Baptisms and when company comes. Freezes well and remains flavorful

  1. Beat butter until fluffy, add sugar beat a little more
  2. Mix eggs, vanilla,, lemon zest and add to mixture
  3. Add warm milk and remaining items, except flour
  4. Add flour a cup at a time, until dough is soft.
  5. Knead dough on counter, adding a bit more flour until cookies are easy to roll out into a 5 inch snake, twist into desired shape
  6. Place on baking sheet, brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame
  7. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes until golded
