- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 c. flour
- 1 (7 1/2 ounce.) box dates, minced
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. water

- Cream butter and grated cheese together. Gradually add in flour, mixing to soft dough. Refrigeratein refrigerator at least one hour. Meanwhile combine minced dates, sugar and water in a saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly till soft (about 5 min). Cold. Break off small portions of chilled dough. Roll into ball in palm of hand.
- Flatten and place date mix in finger shaped pcs in center. (Or possibly make into small pie shaped pcs in center). Roll dough to cover mix. Bake on cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 min or possibly till golden. (Makes about 24 or possibly 30 pies). Great for parties, teas and snacks.
