,%20so%20I%20decided%20to%20give%20it%20a%20whirl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20glad%20that%20I%20did.%20Although%20there%20is%20a%20lot%20going%20on%20with%20this%20recipe%20ingredient-wise,%20it%20didn't%20taste%20all%20that%20different%20from%20my%20go-to%20pot%20roast%20recipe.%20However,%20the%20gravy%20that%20this%20recipe%20produced%20was%20a%20little%20sweeter,%20spicier,%20and%20thicker%20than%20I%20get%20from%20my%20regular%20pot%20roast%20recipe.%20Definitely%20a%20bonus.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20begin%20this%20recipe,%20I%20heated%20some%20oil%20in%20a%20skillet.%20Then%20I%20rubbed%20the%20roast%20with%20a%20combination%20of%20rosemary,%20basil,%20oregano,%20salt,%20and%20pepper.%20I%20popped%20the%20seasoned%20beef%20into%20the%20skillet%20and%20browned%20it%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes%20on%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou're%20not%20trying%20to%20cook%20the%20meat%20until%20%22done%22%20here,%20you're%20just%20going%20for%20this%20nice,%20seared,%20browned%20effect%20on%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20roast%20sears,%20add%20a%20can%20of%20cream%20of%20mushroom%20soup,%20a%20can%20of%20diced%20tomatoes,%20a%20packet%20of%20onion%20soup%20mix,%20a%20packet%20of%20ranch%20seasoning,%20a%20couple%20of%20tablespoons%20of%20brown%20sugar,%20and%20a%20bay%20leaf%20to%20the%20crock%20pot.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20it%20all%20up.%20I%20admit,%20at%20this%20point%20I%20was%20skeptical%20about%20this%20slurry%20of%20flavors.%20Thank%20goodness%20that%20it%20turned%20out%20okay!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20recipe%20called%20for%202%20cups%20of%20broth.%20I%20just%20added%201-%201%20and%201/2%20cups%20of%20water%20to%20thin%20the%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20roast%20to%20the%20soup/seasoning/tomato%20mixture.%20Turn%20it%20to%20coat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20top%20it%20off%20with%20a%20combination%20a%20baby%20potatoes,%20onions,%20celery,%20and%20carrots.%20Put%20a%20lid%20on%20it%20and%20cook%20at%20the%20lowest%20setting%20for%208-10%20hours%20or%20until%20the%20veggies%20are%20done%20and%20the%20roast%20is%20fall-apart%20tender.%20Note:%20I%20like%20to%20stir%20the%20contents%20of%20the%20crock%20pot%20once%20or%20twice%20during%20the%20cooking%20time%20so%20that%20every%20component%20has%20a%20chance%20to%20soak%20in%20the%20sauce%20and%20cooks%20more%20evenly.%20(Yes,%20I%20realize%20that%20this%20is%20a%20slow%20cooking%20faux%20paux%20and%20that%20I%20am%20supposed%20to%20leave%20the%20lid%20on%20to%20keep%20the%20heat%20from%20escaping,%20thus%20elongating%20cook%20time.%20This%20hands-on%20cook%20just%20can't%20resist%20the%20temptation!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20prepare%20this%20roast%20for%20the%20table,%20I%20removed%20all%20of%20the%20meat%20from%20the%20crock%20pot%20and%20broke%20it%20into%20chunks%20while%20removing%20any%20remaining%20fat%20from%20the%20roast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20left%20with%20the%20veggies%20and%20gravy%20in%20the%20crock%20pot.%20Using%20a%20slotted%20spoon,%20I%20removed%20the%20veggies%20to%20a%20serving%20platter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen,%20I%20strained%20everything%20left%20in%20the%20crock%20pot%20into%20a%20pan%20for%20the%20gravy.%20Usually,%20after%20this%20step,%20I%20thicken%20the%20gravy%20with%20a%20little%20cornstarch%20and%20water.%20No%20need%20for%20that%20this%20time!%20This%20sauce%20was%20gravy-boat-ready%20and%20delicious%20after%20I%20strained%20out%20the%20%22chunks%22.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20piled%20the%20roast%20over%20the%20veggies%20on%20the%20serving%20platter%20a%20placed%20the%20gravy%20next%20the%20plate%20on%20our%20table%20so%20that%20everyone%20could%20create%20their%20plate%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20dinner%20was%20a%20hit!%20We%20all%20enjoyed%20a%20twist%20on%20my%20usual%20pot%20roast.%20Thanks%20to%20my%20sister,%20Angie%20for%20bringing%20this%20recipe%20to%20my%20attention.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere's%20the%20recipe,%20which%20I%20adapted%20slightly%20from%20cdkitchen.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAmazing%20Rosemary%20Roast%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ealtered%20from%20CDKitchen%20http://www.cdkitchen.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes/Makes:%204%20%7C%20Difficulty%20Level:%203%20%7C%20Ready%20In:%20%3E%205%20hrs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20heavy%20skillet%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%20Place%20roast%20in%20skillet%20with%20oil%20and%20sear%20(brown%20over%20high%20heat)%20on%20all%20sides.%20Marinate%20roast%20with%20rosemary,%20thyme,%20salt,%20pepper,%20basil%20and%20oregano%20until%20beef%20is%20completely%20covered%20while%20it's%20in%20the%20skillet.%20Hold%20it%20up%20in%20the%20pan%20with%20a%20long%20handle%20cooking%20fork%20if%20necessary%20or%20with%20tongs.%20Remove%20roast%20from%20pan,%20leaving%20drippings,%20if%20any,%20in%20the%20pan.%20Place%20roast%20in%20slow%20cooker.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20vegetables%20(and%20canned%20tomatoes),%20broth,%20cream%20of%20mushroom%20soup,%20onion%20and%20ranch%20dip%20packets,%20brown%20sugar,%20bay%20leaf%20and%20water.%20Add%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Add%20garlic%20cloves.%3C
