- Place ribs in a 6 quart Dutch oven or possibly large pot with sufficient water to cover.
- Stir in garlic pwdr. Cover and heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium and cook , covered, 1 1/2 hours. Skim foam from top.
- Add in potatoes and onions. Cover and cook over medium-low heat 45 min.
- Add in sausage, sauerkraut, carrots, salt and pepper. Cook, covered, 15 min.
- Stir in chard; cover and let stand 5 min. Serve in soup bowls.
