- 1 pkt Dry kidney beans, (18 ounce)
- 1 Tbsp. Chopped onion
- 2 tsp Beef bouillon granules
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Garlic pwdr
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. Chili pwdr
- 1 tsp Dry oregano
- 1/4 tsp Grnd red pepper
- 1 sm Bay leaf

- Place beans in an airtight plastic bag. Combine chopped onion, bouillon granules, salt and garlic pwdr. Place in a small airtight plastic bag. Put bag in a colorful decorative bag and label it "Flavoring Packet". Combine remaining ingredients in a small airtight plastic bag. Place bag in a decorative bag and label it "Seasoning Packet".
- Place 1 bag beans, 1 Flavoring Packet and 1 Seasoning Packet in a napkin lined basket. Be sure to include directions for preparing on a gift card.
- The directions should read: Sort and wash beans; place in a large Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches above beans; let soak 8 hrs.
- Drain. Combine beans, Flavoring Packet and 7 c. water in a large Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Stir in 1 lb. cooked grnd beef, 1 (8 ounce)
- can tomato sauce, 1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste and Seasoning Packet.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 30 min, stirring occasionally.
