%20blog%20posts%20on%20consecutive%20days,%20but%20isn't%20holiday%20food%20worth%20it?%20Not%20only%20will%20you%20see%20five%20days%20worth%20of%20Christmas%20goodies%20coming%20from%20me,%20but%20the%20sweets%20will%20be%20flowing%20from%20eleven%20other%20bloggers.%20Isn't%20this%20fun?%20Now,%20let's%20talk%20about%20the%20cookies.....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20few%20years%20ago,%20my%20friend%20DeeDee%20posted%20one%20of%20the%20prettiest%20cookies%20I%20had%20ever%20seen.%20Full%20of%20maraschino%20cherries,%20white%20chocolate,%20and%20macadamia%20nuts,%20it%20really%20stood%20out%20as%20a%20stellar%20Christmas%20cookie.%20As%20luck%20would%20have%20it,%20DeeDee%20has%20allowed%20me%20to%20post%20her%20recipe%20to%20kick%20off%20Christmas%20Week.%20So,%20without%20further%20ado,%20let%20me%20share%20with%20you%20this%20spectacular%20cookie....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECherry-White%20Chocolate%20Chunk%20Cookies%20(adapted%20from%20DeeDee%20Pierce)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20a%20package%20of%20macadamia%20nuts%20all%20nicely%20chopped%20up%20for%20me.%20If%20you%20prefer%20larger%20pieces,%20feel%20free%20to%20chop%20your%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20375%20degrees%20F;%20line%20cookie%20sheets%20with%20parchment%20paper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20and%20salt;%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20stand%20mixer%20with%20the%20paddle%20attachment*,%20cream%20the%20butter%20and%20the%20sugar%20until%20light%20and%20fluffy,%20about%202%20minutes.%20Add%20the%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time,%20beating%20well%20after%20each%20addition.%20Stir%20in%20the%20vanilla%20and%20the%20almond%20extracts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20flour,%20half%20at%20a%20time,%20to%20the%20creamed%20mixture,%20stirring%20just%20until%20well-incorporated.%20The%20dough%20will%20be%20stiff.%20Stir%20in%20the%20nuts%20and%20the%20white%20chocolate,%20then%20gently%20stir%20in%20the%20cherries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20my%20jar%20of%20cherries%20was%20larger%20than%20I%20needed,%20I%20measured%20out%20one%20cup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrop%20the%20cookie%20dough%20by%20rounded%20tablespoons%20on%20to%20the%20lined%20cookie%20sheets.%20Bake%20for%208-10%20minutes,%20until%20they%20are%20firmly%20set,%20but%20not%20browned.%20Remove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20the%20cookies%20to%20cool%20completely,%20before%20removing%20from%20the%20sheets%20(if%20you%20need%20to%20reuse%20the%20pan,%20simply%20slide%20off%20the%20parchment%20paper%20with%20the%20cookies,%20and%20reline).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Using%20a%20stand%20mixer%20is%20recommended,%20as%20the%20cookie%20dough%20is%20rather%20stiff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20important%20to%20cool%20the%20cookies%20on%20the%20parchment%20paper...if%20you%20try%20removing%20them%20while%20they%20are%20still%20warm,%20they%20may%20fall%20apart.%20Trust%20me%20on%20this....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20you%20have%20it---beautiful%20cherry%20cookies!%20While%20you%20can%20certainly%20make%20these%20year-round%20(wouldn't%20that%20cherry-red%20color%20be%20great%20for%20Valentine's%20day?),%20I%20hear%20that%20this%20particular%20recipe%20is%20Santa's%20favorite.%20Please%20leave%20a%20few%20out%20for%20the%20jolly%20old%20guy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday%E2%80%99s%20theme%20for%20Christmas%20Week%20is%20%E2%80%9CCookies%20and%20Bars%E2%80%9D.%20Make%20sure%20you%20visit%20all%20the%20participating%20bloggers%20today%20to%20see%20what%20special%20dish%20they%20whipped%20up%20for%20you.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
