- Supplies needed: 4 wide mouth pint jars, canning lids and screw bands. Solid shortening, quick bread batter.Grease the inside of jars well with solid shortening, fill the jars 1/2 full with your favorite quick bread recipe. Place the jars on a cookie sheet and bake them at 325 degrees for 45 min. Remove from the oven and place a hot lid on, screw it down, and jars will seal.
- Uses for canned bread: Great for a quick dessert or possibly snack. Bread is packaged in small quantities so there will not be leftover bread to dry out. A nice gift idea for friends, they will not have to eat it right away.
- Bread can be made up when ingredients are on hand, ready to use, I.E. bananas, then stored till ready to use. Saves freezer space.
- Cream sugar and butter, add in beaten large eggs, add in soda to bananas and other ingredients.
