,%20but%20that's%20where%20the%20similarity%20ends.%20%20Deb's%20recipe%20is%20more%20complicated%20and%20given%20it's%20a%20Smitten%20Kitchen%20recipe,%20I'm%20sure%20it's%20worth%20the%20time%20and%20effort.%20%20But%20since%20I%20have%20Mrs.%20Millward's%20Rolls%20down%20pat,%20I%20opted%20to%20use%20that%20recipe,%20and%20I%20also%20used%20a%20different%20filling,%20and%20purchased%20lemon%20curd.%20%20The%20next%20time%20I%20make%20this%20(and%20there%20will%20be%20a%20next%20time!),%20I%20might%20add%20a%20lemony%20glaze%20to%20the%20top,%20to%20make%20it%20look%20more%20like%20pastry%20so%20the%20mister%20will%20have%20something%20else%20to%20whine%20about.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20not%20a%20quick%20recipe...easy,%20yes...quick,%20no.%20%20But%20if%20you're%20going%20to%20make%20bread,%20then%20why%20not%20make%20lemon%20bread?%20%20It's%20refreshing%20and%20surprising...and%20irresistibly%20good.%20%20This%20makes%20two%20loaves,%20one%20to%20keep,%20one%20to%20give%20away%20or%20you%20can%20make%20one%20loaf%20and%20use%20the%20other%20half%20of%20the%20dough%20to%20make%20a%20dozen%20rolls...the%20possibilities%20are%20endless!%20%20One%20more%20thing...since%20this%20IS%20bread%20you%20might%20be%20tempted%20to%20add%20butter%20to%20your%20slice...I'm%20certainly%20not%20going%20to%20tell%20you%20not%20to,%20but,%20and%20this%20is%20probably%20the%20only%20time%20I'll%20ever%20say%20this,%20butter%20is%20not%20necessary!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBraided%20Lemon%20Bread%20-%20Pots%20and%20Pins,%20Inspired%20by%20Smitten%20Kitchen%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Filling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20Mrs.%20Millward's%20Rolls%20according%20to%20recipe.%20%20After%20rising%20the%20second%20time,%20punch%20dough%20down%20and%20cut%20in%20half.%20%20On%20a%20piece%20of%20parchment%20(necessary%20to%20lift%20the%20bread%20onto%20the%20baking%20sheet)%20roll%20out%20one%20half%20of%20dough%20into%20a%20large%20rectangle,%20about%2020-inches%20long%20and%2015-inches%20wide.%20(If%20needed,%20lightly%20flour%20rolling%20pin.)%20%20Make%20filling%20by%20combining,%20in%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20the%20cream%20cheese,%20powdered%20sugar,%20lemon%20juice%20and%20sour%20cream.%20%20Whisk%20together%20until%20smooth.%20%20Divide%20dough%20rectangle%20into%20thirds,%20lengthwise,%20you%20can%20either%20eyeball%20this%20or%20make%20a%20light%20mark%20with%20your%20finger.%20%20Spread%20half%20of%20the%20lemon%20curd%20over%20the%20center%20third%20of%20the%20dough.%20%20Spread%20half%20of%20the%20filling%20on%20top%20of%20the%20lemon%20curd.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl%20beat%20egg%20with%201%20teaspoon%20of%20water.%20%20Lightly%20brush%20sides%20of%20the%20dough%20with%20egg%20wash.%20%20Using%20scissors,%20cut%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20dough%20into%201-inch%20wide%20strips,%20making%20sure%20to%20have%20an%20even%20amount%20of%20strips%20on%20each%20side.%20%20(See%20photo%20above.)%20%20Pull%20up%20two%20strips,%20one%20from%20each%20side%20and%20cross%20over%20each%20other,%20the%20dough%20will%20stretch%20a%20bit%20as%20you%20pull%20it%20up%20so%20after%20crossing%20each%20piece,%20braiding%20it,%20tuck%20the%20ends%20under%20on%20the%20opposite%20side.%20%20%20Continue%20until%20all%20is%20braided,%20tucking%20under%20the%20ends.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELift%20parchment%20paper%20up%20and%20carefully%20place%20onto%20rimmed%20baking%20sheet.%20%20Sprinkle%20top%20of%20the%20bread%20with%20half%20of%20the%20turbinado%20sugar%20and%20half%20of%20the%20lemon%20zest.%20%20Repeat%20with%20remaining%20dough.%20%20Lightly%20cover%20both%20braided%20breads%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20set%20in%20a%20warm%20place%20to%20rise,%20about%2045%20minutes.%20%20(I%20didn't%20say%20this%20was%20a%20fast%20recipe!)%20%20When%20ready%20to%20bake,%20bake%20in%20a%20preheated%20375%20degree%20oven%20for%2025%20to%2030%20minutes%20or%20until%20loaves%20are%20a%20golden%20brown.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
