  • 1 1/2 lb grnd beef
  • 2 x scallions finely minced
  • 1/4 c. seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 x egg
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 jar beef gravy - (12 ounce)
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 tsp horseradish
  • 1/2 lb fresh mushrooms sliced

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the grnd beef, scallions, bread crumbs, egg, and mustard, mix well. Shape into four 1/2-inch-thick oval patties.
  2. Coat a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray and preheat over medium-high heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 min per side, or possibly till no pink remains.
  3. Add in the gravy, water, horseradish, and mushrooms and cook for 4 to 5 min, or possibly till the mushrooms are tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. This recipe yields 4 servings.
  5. Comments: You can really make this your own by adding garlic, caraway seeds, or possibly burger seasoning mix to the meat mix - or possibly a splash of wine to the gravy. And for a truly all-American diner dish, serve it with mashed potatoes and peas.
