%20it%20was%20labelled%20as%20a%20%22lager%22%20and%202)%20it%20was%20the%20only%20individual%20sale%20bottle%20of%20lager%20beer%20available%20at%20my%20local%20supermarket.%20Truth%20be%20told,%20I%20don't%20know%20much%20about%20beer.%20I'm%20not%20picky%20and%20I'm%20certainly%20not%20a%20beer%20snob.%20If%20it's%20cold%20and%20fizzy%20at%20a%20tailgate%20party,%20then%20I'm%20good%20to%20go!%20The%20Red%20Stripe%20did%20just%20fine%20in%20this%20recipe%20and%20I%20later%20found%20that%20it%20tastes%20pretty%20good%20on%20it's%20own%20too.%20:%20)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%2012%20oz.%20of%20the%20beer%20into%20your%20roux.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext,%20bring%20the%20mixture%20to%20a%20slow%20boil.%20Reduce%20the%20heat%20and%20simmer%20until%20the%20mixture%20thickens%20to%20the%20consistency%20of%20heavy%20cream.%20Mine%20accidentally%20went%20a%20little%20further,%20it%20was%20more%20like%20gravy.%20After%20adding%20in%20the%20cheese,%20I%20ended%20up%20adding%20more%20beer%20to%20thin%20the%20mixture%20because%20it%20got%20pretty%20thick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20add%20in%20some%20Worcestershire%20sauce,%20dry%20mustard,%20and%20cayenne%20pepper.%20I%20followed%20the%20recipe%20to%20begin%20with,%20then%20added%20more%20of%20these%20ingredients,%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20for%20the%20star%20of%20the%20show:%20Cheese!%20I%20stirred%20in%204%20cups%20of%20shredded%20cheddar%20(half%20sharp,%20half%20mild),%20one%20cup%20at%20a%20time,%20until%20it%20melted.%20If%20it%20suits%20your%20taste,%20you%20may%20want%20to%20add%20a%20little%20salt%20after%20tasting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMmmm.%20Cheesy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20fondue%20was%20ready,%20I%20assembled%20the%20fondue%20set%20and%20cut%20up%20the%20bread%20for%20dipping.%20This%20was%20my%20first%20time%20using%20a%20gel%20cooking%20fuel%20canister.%20I%20picked%20mine%20up%20at%20the%20grocery%20store.%20As%20I%20was%20lighting%20the%20canister,%20it%20occurred%20to%20me:%20this%20fondue%20appeals%20to%20a%20wide%20audience.%20If%20you%20like%20beer...this%20fondue%20is%20for%20you!%20If%20you%20like%20cheese...this%20fondue%20is%20for%20you!%20If%20you%20like%20bread...this%20fondue%20is%20for%20you!%20And%20finally,%20if%20you're%20a%20pyro-maniac...you'll%20love%20this%20too...especially%20the%20part%20where%20you%20get%20to%20set%20the%20fuel%20aflame.%20Any%20Beavis%20and%20Butthead%20fans%20left%20out%20there?%20%22Fire.%20Yeah!%20Fire%20is%20cool!%20He%20heh%20he%20heh!%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20regularly%20faced%20with%20the%20question,%20%22White%20or%20wheat%22%20(the%20answer%20is%20always%20wheat%20for%20me).%20This%20time%20I%20went%20with%20both.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20selected%20this%20crusty%20wheat%20bread%20from%20the%20bakery%20at%20my%20local%20grocery.%20Sandra%20Lee's%20recipe%20for%20this%20fondue%20actually%20includes%20a%20recipe%20for%20Cracked%20Wheat%20Beer%20Bread%20to%20serve%20with%20the%20fondue%20found%20HERE.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20cut%20up%20a%20loaf%20of%20white%20bread,%20that%20I'd%20baked%20earlier%20in%20the%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20set!%20Just%20a%20sprinkle%20of%20parsley%20for%20garnish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20enjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheesy%20Beer%20Fondue%20from%20Sandra%20Lee%20on%20FoodNetwork.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20butter%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Whisk%20in%20flour%20and%20cook%20for%201%20to%202%20minutes%20while%20stirring%20constantly%20to%20make%20a%20roux.%20Add%20beer%20and%20bring%20to%20slow%20boil.%20Reduce%20heat%20and%20simmer,%20stirring%20occasionally%20until%20mixture%20thickens%20to%20the%20consistency%20of%20heavy%20cream.%20Add%20Worcestershire,%20mustard%20and%20cayenne,%20stirring%20thoroughly.%20Add%20cheese%201%20cup%20at%20a%20time,%20melting%20cheese%20after%20each%20addition.%20Stir%20fondue%20until%20it%20is%20smooth.%20Turn%20into%20fondue%20pot%20and%20serve%20with%20cubed%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*I%20added%20additional%20Worcestershire,%20mustard%20powder,%20and%20cayenne%20to%20taste.%20The%20original%20recipe%20didn't%20call%20for%20salt,%20but%20I%20added%20a%20sprinkle%20of%20sea%20salt%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*I%20thought%20that%20the%20wheat%20bread,%20which%20had%20more%20texture%20and%20a%20hint%20of%20sweetness%20was%20by%20far%20superior%20with%20this%20fondue.%20However,%20my%20husband%20hands-down%20preferred%20the%20white%20bread....which%20stands%20to%20reason,%20because%20we%20have%20the%20same%20opinion%20on%20the%20white%20vs.%20wheat%20debate%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20rolls%20and%20sandwich%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Be%20sure%20not%20to%20thicken%20the%20beer%20too%20much%20before%20the%20addition%20of%20cheese%20or%20the%20fondue%20will%20be%20pretty%20thick%20and%20you%20will%20need%20to%20thin%20it%20with%20more%20beer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you're%20in%20the%20market%20for%20a%20fondue%20set,%20you%20can%20check%20out%20the%20set%20featured%20in%20this%20post%20in%20my%20left%20s
