%20crepes.%20%20When%20filled%20with%20market%20fresh%20organic%20strawberries%20and%20topped%20powdered%20sugar,%20though,%20they%20were%20absolutely%20divine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOver%20the%20years%20we've%20continued%20to%20use%20our%20original%20recipe,%20simply%20tweaking%20it%20here%20and%20there,%20learning%20about%20the%20importance%20of%20the%20rest%20period%20(allow%20the%20batter%20to%20rest%20for%20about%201%20hour%20after%20mixing),%20and%20adding%20chocolate%20on%20occasion.%20%20However%20last%20weekend%20Liv%20suggest%20trying%20something%20new...%20just%20for%20fun.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurning%20to%20my%20buddy%20(he%20doesn't%20know%20he's%20my%20buddy...%20but%20he%20is),%20Alton%20Brown,%20who%20had%20just%20done%20a%20piece%20on%20crepes%20on%20his%20tv%20show,%20I%20headed%20to%20the%20Food%20Network%20for%20his%20recipe.%20%20Following%20his%20directions%20to%20a%20%22T%22,%20I%20forwent%20my%20whisk%20in%20place%20of%20a%20blender%20and%20gave%20the%20batter%20a%2010%20second%20whirl%20as%20directed.%20%20The%20batter%20then%20received%20a%20good%20hour%20plus%20rest%20in%20the%20fridge,%20and%20we%20were%20ready.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESetting%20our%20small%20nonstick%20skillet%20on%20the%20stove%20(Alton%20says%20there%20is%20no%20need%20for%20a%20real%20crepe%20pan),%20we%20heated%20the%20pan%20and%20swirled%20in%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20butter.%20%20I%20then%20ladled%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20batter%20and%20set%20once%20again%20to%20swirling.%20%20Hardly%20believing%20my%20eyes,%20I%20found%20I%20had%20just%20produced%20the%20thinnest%20crepe%20in%20all%20of%20my%20%22extensive%22%20crepe%20making%20experience!%20Not%20only%20was%20it%20thin,%20but%20the%20first%20crepe%20of%20the%20batch%20actually%20turned%20out%20beautifully%20and%20didn't%20have%20to%20be%20sacrificed%20as%20many%20of%20my%20first%20crepes%20do.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20my%20excitement,%20I%20may%20have%20become%20slightly%20too%20exuberant.%20%20Turning%20to%20show%20Liv%20our%20beautiful%20crepe,%20my%20elbow%20hit%20the%20ladle%20sticking%20out%20of%20the%20blender%20and%20that%20is%20when%20the%20slow%20motion%20began.%20%20Ever%20so%20slowly%20the%20blender%20began%20to%20tip,%20the%20batter%20began%20to%20fly%20and%20the%20ladle%20began%20to%20drop.%20%20I%20must%20say%20I%20don't%20think%20I've%20ever%20before%20spread%20a%20spill%20in%20the%20kitchen%20a%20clean%208%20feet,%20so%20this%20was%20indeed%20a%20day%20of%20firsts.%20%20And%20tears.%20%20Well,%20not%20really%20tears,%20but%20a%20very%20disappointed%20(and%20slightly%20miffed)%2012%20year%20old%20girl%20who%20only%20had%20one%20crepe%20and%20now%20had%20another%20hour%20to%20wait%20for%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBSS%20%7C%20Breakfast%20Interrupted%20from%20Bruton%20Stroube%20Studios%20on%20Vimeo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20video%20from%20Bruton%20Stroube%20give%20an%20example%20of%20our%20kitchen%20during%20The%20Spill!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20can%20confidently%20say%20that%20waiting%20that%20hour%20before%20making%20your%20crepes%20is%20a%20good%20idea.%20%20We%20now%20have%20first%20hand%20experience%20with%20a%20beautiful,%20well%20rested%20batter%20versus%20a%2030%20minute%20-%20we%20can't%20wait%20any%20longer%20-%20slightly%20rested%20batter.%20%20While%20the%20new%20batch%20was%20good,%20the%20first%20and%20more%20rested%20batch%20was%20better.%20%20Since%20our%20spill%20day,%20we%20have%20made%20crepes%20time%20and%20again,%20and%20yes,%20the%20crepes%20are%20worth%20the%20wait.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECinnamon%20Apple%20Crepes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(See,%20Alton??%20%20I%20keep%20telling%20you%20we%20make%20a%20good%20team..)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrepes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20the%20crepesr%20according%20to%20Alton's%20directions%20-%20be%20sure%20to%20follow%20the%20sweet%20recipe%20version%20by%20adding%202%201/2%20Tbs%20of%20sugar%20and%201%20tsp%20vanilla%20extract%20to%20the%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20the%20filling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20the%20apples.%20%20Cut%20the%20apples%20into%20the%20desired%20size.%20%20(We%20had%20a%20bit%20of%20discussion%20about%20this...%20while%20I%20prefer%20mine%20in%20thin%20slices,%20Liv%20prefers%20hers%20chopped.%20%20The%20choice%20is%20yours).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl%20combine%20the%20brown%20sugar,%20cinnamon%20and%20nutmeg.%20%20Whisk%20to%20combine%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20sauce%20pan%20melt%20the%20butter%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Add%20the%20sliced%20(or%20diced)%20apples%20to%20the%20pan%20and%20stir%20to%20coat%20with%20the%20butter.%20%20Sprinkle%20the%20apples%20with%20the%20sugar%20mixture,%20stirring%20again%20to%20coat.%20%20If%20you%20seem%20to%20be%20a%20bit%20short%20on%20the%20sugar/cinnamon%20mixture%20feel%20free%20to%20add%20a%20bit%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20the%20apples%20to%20simmer,%20turning%20down%20the%20heat%20if%20the%20sugar%20mixture%20is%20bubbling%20too%20much,%20until%20the%20apples%20are%20soft,%20but%20still%20have%20a%20bit%20of%20a%20bite.%20%20Stir%20i
