%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20been%20eye%20balling%20this%20tart%20recipe%20ever%20since%20I%20got%20the%20Popina%20Baking%20Book%20waaaay%20back%20last%20year.%20I've%20baked%20a%20few%20things%20from%20it%20and%20loved%20them,%20but%20the%20picture%20of%20this%20tart%20has%20been%20calling%20my%20name.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinally%20today,%20all%20was%20in%20place%20and%20I%20was%20able%20to%20get%20it%20done.%20I%20had%20the%20ingredients%20.%20.%20.%20I%20had%20the%20time%20.%20.%20.%20and%20I%20was%20in%20the%20mood!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20my%20.%20.%20.%20it%20is%20some%20good.%20Of%20course,%20I%20have%20adapted%20it%20a%20bit%20.%20.%20.%20it%20is%20my%20curse%20you%20know%20.%20.%20.%20this%20never%20being%20able%20to%20leave%20well%20enough%20alone%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20rather%20a%20lazy%20sod%20really%20.%20.%20.%20and%20so%20I%20pressed%20the%20pastry%20into%20the%20tart%20tin%20instead%20of%20rolling%20it%20out.%20Know%20what?%20It%20worked%20perfectly%20and%20cut%20a%20lot%20of%20aggravation%20and%20time%20out%20of%20the%20recipe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn't%20have%20the%20exact%20plums%20called%20for%20either,%20so%20used%20what%20I%20did%20have,%20which%20were%20big%20fat%20red%20plums%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20original%20recipe%20called%20for%20Bramley's%20and%20I%20did%20have%20them,%20but%20I%20thought%20two%20Bramleys%20was%20far%20too%20much%20apple,%20even%20one%20would%20have%20been%20too%20much%20as%20my%20bramleys%20are%20rather%20large,%20and%20so%20I%20used%20two%20granny%20smith's%20instead.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20result?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'll%20just%20let%20the%20pictures%20speak%20for%20themselves%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20one%20very,%20very%20good%20tart!%20The%20perfect%20tart%20for%20the%20perfect%20autumn%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELots%20of%20sunshine,%20the%20Mormon%20Tabernacle%20Choir,%20a%20tired%20and%20sleepy%20pup,%20breeze%20blown%20sheets%20and%20a%20delicious%20apple%20and%20plum%20tart.%20What%20more%20could%20you%20ask%20for?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Apple%20and%20Plum%20Tart*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20one%2012%20inch%20tart%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20beautiful%20tart%20filled%20with%20a%20sweet%20sponge%20and%20a%20fruity%20combination%20of%20sweet%20plums%20and%20tart%20apples.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efor%20the%20sweet%20pastry:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20make%20the%20pastry.%20Place%20the%20flour,%20butter%20and%20sugar%20into%20a%20food%20processor%20and%20blitz%20until%20all%20crumbly.%20Add%20the%20beaten%20egg%20and%20blitz%20again%20until%20well%20combined.%20Press%20evenly%20into%20a%2012%20inch%20tart%20tin%20with%20a%20loose%20bottom.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20160*C/325*F/%20gas%20mark%203.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20together%20the%20butter%20and%20sugar%20for%20the%20sponge,%20until%20light%20and%20fluffy.%20Beat%20in%20the%20egg%20and%20baking%20powder.%20Fold%20in%20the%20flour.%20Spread%20this%20batter%20evenly%20into%20the%20prepared%20pastry%20shell.%20Scatter%20the%20fruit%20over%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2040%20to%2045%20minutes%20in%20the%20heated%20oven.%20The%20sponge%20will%20have%20risen%20up%20around%20the%20fruit%20and%20the%20fruit%20will%20have%20sunk%20a%20little%20and%20be%20juicy.%20Remove%20from%20the%20oven.%20Heat%20the%20apricot%20jam%20over%20low%20heat%20and%20brush%20over%20top%20of%20the%20warm%20tart.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20warm%20or%20at%20room%20temperature%20with%20cream%20or%20custard.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
