%20recipe%20I%20knew%20it%20would%20become,%20in%20some%20variety,%20a%20part%20of%20our%20Seven%20Fishes%20holiday%20tradition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20decided%20to%20omit%20the%20wine%20vinegar%20since%20the%20capers%20were%20packed%20in%20vinegar%20rather%20than%20salted.%20These%20will%20need%20to%20be%20drained%20when%20preparing%20the%20pesto.%20The%20red%20pepper%20was%20nixed%20due%20to%20a%20mixed%20crowd,%20mixed%20being%20kids%20and%20the%20anti-Italian%20diners.%20%20Preparing%20a%20rather%20large%20amount%20of%20pasta,%20I%20knew%20the%20%E2%80%9Ceye%20ball%E2%80%9D%20method%20was%20in%20order.%20I%20used%20the%20remaining%20ingredients%20as%20written,%20estimating%20the%20amounts%20while%20keeping%20them%20proportionate%20to%20the%20original%20recipe.%20In%20retrospect,%20this%20is%20the%20true%20Foodalogue%20cooking%20fashion,%20a%20bit%20of%20this%20and%20a%20dash%20of%20that,%20no%20measuring%20required.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAngel%20Hair%20Pasta%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOlive%20Oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20small%20onion%20chopped%20fine%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECaper%20Anchovy%20Pesto%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20the%20pasta%20was%20cooking,%20I%20began%20to%20heat%20enough%20olive%20oil%20to%20more%20than%20coat%20the%20pasta.%20I%20had%20about%20half%20cup%20or%20so%20of%20finely%20chopped%20onion%20ready%20to%20go.%20The%20pesto%20ingredients%20went%20into%20the%20processor.%20After%20a%20few%20pulses,%20a%20creative%20foodie%20wave%20overcame%20the%20whole%20process,%20inspiring%20a%20chunky%20style%20pesto.%20The%20mixture%20was%20chunky,%20its%20consistency%20a%20bit%20thinner%20than%20a%20traditional%20pesto.%20At%20this%20point,%20the%20onion%20went%20into%20the%20hot,%20but%20not%20smoking,%20oil%20and%20cooked%20until%20translucent.%20The%20pasta%20was%20then%20set%20to%20drain.%20Into%20the%20olive%20oil%20and%20cooked%20onion%20went%20the%20pesto%20plus%20a%20few%20more%20canned%20anchovy%20filets.%20Stir%20to%20heat%20and%20incorporate%20flavors.%20Plate%20drained%20angel%20hair%20pasta,%20pour%20sauce%20over,%20toss,%20and%20serve.%20Serve%20up%20fresh%20grated%20Romano%20cheese%20and%20those%20crushed%20red%20peppers%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20whole%20process%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20have%20taken%20more%20than%2015%20minutes.%20This%20was%20the%20best%20tasting%20pasta%20on%20the%20table%20in%20my%20opinion.%20In%20fact,%20those%20who%20don%E2%80%99t%20normally%20eat%20the%20anchovy%20and%20capers%20dish%20enjoyed%20this%20one.%20Thanks%20for%20the%20inspiration%20Joan!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESee%20that%20beautiful,%20authentic%20Japanese%20dish%20in%20the%20photo,%20it%20was%20a%20gift%20from%20my%20brother%20when%20he%20was%20stationed%20in%20Japan.%20Kind%20of%20ironic%20to%20be%20serving%20Italian%20in%20a%20Japanese%20dish.%20And%20don't%20you%20all%20laugh%20at%20my%20plastic%20pasta%20server%20in%20combination%20with%20that%20beautiful%20dish%20either,%20only%20I%20can%20do%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAre%20you%20hungry?%20%E2%99%A5%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
