Рецепт A Gluten Free – All Girls Weekend
What is it about super fun weekends that make Monday…sort of…the worst? I’ve never been one to dread Mondays – in fact, a few years ago I made a resolution to stop living for the weekend, and I’ve found that that mentality really works for me.
But this past weekend was SO FUN!
If you follow me on Facebook (here) or Instagram (here) then you already know that this past weekend, my two sisters, my two nieces, and myself had an All Girls Slumber Party!
Complete with matching PJs:
We had been planning this weekend for months, and I was SO EXCITED that it was finally here!
We started off the party with a quick trip to the mall:
tiaras were optional.
All that shopping left us hungry. Luckily my FAVORITE pizza place was nearby:
Fuel Pizza! Fuel Pizza has location in and around Charlotte, NC, as well as in Washington DC. If you have a location near you, drop whatever you’re doing and go! Run!
Because friends, their gluten free pizza is the best.
Ever.
Hands down! It is so good! I’m sad to say I ate every single bite of the above pizza. Sad because it’s gone…and because I was WAY to FULL afterwards. But I loved every single bite.
After pizza, we went back to Bestie’s house where the Slumber Party was being hosted, and we relaxed and chatted.
We changed into our PJs and watched Frozen together, complete with Frozen popcorn!
Bestie followed this recipe on Pinterest except that she pretty much halved everything. The sticky sweet concoction was better just drizzled on the popcorn instead of completely covering it.
I had bought the nieces matching bowls to enjoy their popcorn in:
and I think it’s safe to say that the adults enjoyed the movie just as much as the parents.
I was also able to enjoy a deliciously DRY homebrewed Apple Cider while watching the movie:
My Brother-In-Law Scott really hit it out of the park with this one! I love a really DRY not very sweet cider.
My nieces went to bed shortly after the movie, but I of course stayed up WAY PAST my bedtime chatting with my Sissie. Let’s just say….
I could have used a bit more sleep on Sunday morning!
But there was no time! We woke up Sunday to a positively BEAUTIFUL day. With all the wintry weather we’ve been having, you just can’t miss out on a random day of highs in the 70s!
But first, breakfast!
I had two Van’s Gluten Free Frozen waffles topped with homemade blueberry sauce, whipped crème, and just a dash of pink sprinkles since it was a special occasion!
The blueberry sauce was DELICIOUS! Oh yes. I WILL be making it again. It was pretty simple to make too.
Bestie combined 1 pint of blueberries with 1/2 cup water and 1/8 cup sugar in a small saucepan. She let it come to a boil and then let it simmer away for about 10 minutes, or until the blueberries were bursting. Then she used her immersion blender to just blend it a bit and added one tsp. of cornstarch to thicken it up.
Heavenly.
After breakfast we spent the morning painting our nails:
and singing songs from Frozen.
All that painting left us hungry, so we headed to the closest Red Robin for lunch. And YOU KNOW I was happy about that!
Some Red Robin’s use Udi’s gluten free buns and others use Rich’s gluten free buns. I’m lucky that this location uses Rich’s. Not that Udi’s isn’t good, but Rich’s are INSANE! They are so freakin’ fluffy. I kid you not. I love them!!!!
After lunch we enjoyed the sunny day and warm temps.
We rode bikes in the neighborhood, which then turned in to me pulling my nieces in a bike trailer.
So yeah, I got a good workout in on Sunday.
While I rode the girls around, my sisters worked in the kitchen on our last bit of fun before we all parted ways:
Gluten Free Cupcakes!
In fact, these are THE BEST EVER Chocolate Gluten Free Cupcakes.
I can’t wait to tell you all about them tomorrow!
And that was my All Girl’s Weekend!
Plus, it’s a nice reminder to treasure even the smallest moments, like riding in a car
and singing along to every song that comes on the radio, because time flies by so quickly!
