%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaking%20is%20the%20last%20thing%20I%20had%20in%20mind%20for%20the%20past%20few%20months.%20I%20was%20left%20alone%20to%20tackle%20the%20humongous%20task%20of%20packing,%20unpacking,%20shifting...not%20forgetting%20the%20endless%20'cleaning%20sessions'.%20The%20entire%20process,%20has%20reunited%20me%20with%20every%20single%20corner%20of%20my%20house!%20I%20have%20also%20been%20taking%20my%20own%20sweet%20time%20to%20unpack%20the%2030%20over%20boxes%20of%20stuff.%20It%20could%20take%20me%20one%20whole%20morning%20to%20find%20the%20'right%20home'%20for%20each%20single%20item%20in%20just%20one%20box.%20I%20spent%20quiet%20moments,%20looking%20through%20all%20the%20keepsakes%20which%20I%20have%20been%20keeping%20over%20the%20years.%20I%20am%20also%20suffering%20from%20the%20'new%20house%20syndrome'...being%20over%20zealous%20in%20trying%20to%20keep%20the%20house%20pristine%20clean.%20I%20hope%20I%20am%20able%20to%20get%20over%20it%20really%20really%20soon!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20the%20cleaning,%20scrubbing,%20and%20endless%20chores%20has%20taken%20its%20toll%20on%20me.%20I%20was%20in%20no%20mood%20to%20bake%20anything%20and%20nothing%20seems%20to%20inspire%20me.%20I%20even%20harboured%20the%20idea%20of%20giving%20up%20blogging%20altogether.%20Leaving%20the%20blogosphere%20as%20quietly%20as%20I%20have%20entered%20it%20four%20years%20ago.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20one%20of%20those%20spur-of-the-moment%20thingy%20when%20I%20gave%20the%20new%20comer%20a%20thorough%20clean%20up.%20%20Once%20I%20turned%20on%20the%20oven%20for%20the%20first%20time,%20the%20'sparks'%20that%20I%20have%20been%20waiting%20for%20has%20finally%20ignited%20my%20passion%20for%20baking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20first%20bake%20of%20the%20year%20is%20this%20Strawberry%20Galette.%20It%20is%20nothing%20new%20to%20me.%20I%20tried%20making%20it%20when%20I%20first%20saw%20it%20over%20at%20Laurreen's%20blog,%20Eat%20and%20Be%20Happy,%20except%20that%20mine%20is%20a%20far%20cry%20from%20hers%20;)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20strawberry%20galette(French%20free%20form%20tart)%20is%20the%20right%20choice%20for%20a%20first%20bake%20from%20a%20new%20oven.%20It%20is%20very%20simple%20to%20put%20together%20and%20I%20would%20say%20it%20is%20not%20that%20sensitive%20to%20the%20oven%20temperature%20as%20compared%20to%20a%20chiffon%20cake.%20I%20adapted%20the%20recipe%20from%20joyofbaking%20and%20replaced%20some%20of%20the%20plain%20flour%20with%20wholemeal%20ones.%20It%20is%20a%20delightful%20dessert,%20best%20served%20freshly%20baked%20over%20a%20cup%20of%20tea.%20You%20also%20get%20to%20enjoy%20the%20wonderful%20aroma%20when%20it%20is%20baking%20in%20the%20oven.%20My%20clueless%20kid%20came%20to%20ask%20me%20what%20our%20neighbour%20was%20cooking%20when%20he%20smelt%20something%20really%20nice%20from%20the%20living%20room.%20It%20has%20been%20so%20long%20that%20he%20has%20already%20forgotten%20the%20familiar%20buttery%20fragrance%20that%20used%20to%20fill%20our%20kitchen%20:')%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20next%20time%20I%20were%20to%20make%20this%20again,%20I%20would%20use%20more%20strawberries,%20I%20only%20used%20slightly%20half%20a%20punnet,%20stingy%20me!%20See,%20there%20is%20always%20a%20'next%20time'.%20I%20believe%20it%20is%20this%20exact%20'next%20time'%20mentality%20that%20keeps%20me%20going.%20There%20is%20always%20something%20I%20could%20improve%20upon%20and%20done%20better%20the%20next%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20Galette%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epastry:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Mix%20plain%20flour,%20wholemeal%20flour,%20sugar,%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20mixing%20bowl.%20With%20finger%20tips%20rub%20the%20cold%20butter%20into%20the%20dry%20ingredients%20until%20the%20mixture%20resembles%20coarse%20crumbs.%20(It%20is%20important%20that%20the%20butter%20be%20cold%20so%20when%20it%20is%20cut%20into%20the%20flour%20mixture%20it%20becomes%20small,%20flour-coated%20crumbs.%20I%20use%20a%20fork%20to%20work%20the%20butter%20into%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%20If%20the%20butter%20starts%20to%20melt%20away%20during%20this%20process,%20stop%20and%20place%20the%20mixture%20in%20the%20freezer%20for%2010-15%20mins%20to%20prevent%20the%20butter%20from%20melting%20further.%20Continue%20the%20process%20when%20the%20mixture%20is%20well%20chilled.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Add%20the%20ice%20water%20and%20mix%20until%20the%20mixture%20comes%20together%20to%20form%20a%20dough.%20Pat%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20round%20disc,%20place%20in%20a%20plastic%20bag%20or%20cover%20with%20cling%20wrap%20and%20leave%20it%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20at%20least%201%20hour%20to%20chill%20the%20butter%20and%20allow%20the%20gluten%20in%20the%20flour%20to%20relax.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Wash%20the%20strawberries,%20remove%20the%20stems%20and%20cut%20into%20halves%20or%20thick%20slices.%20Toss%20the%20sliced%20strawberries%20with%20the%20sugar%20and%20cornstarch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20To%20prevent%20the%20dough%20from%20sticking%20to%20work%20surface,%20roll%20out%20the%20chill
