SAVING TIME

When cooking double up on your recipe and freeze enough for another day perhaps when your running late or just need something quick take it out of the freezer and there it is all ready to heat and eat add a healthy salad ,Dinner ready ..charlene

I double batch when cooking in my crock pot. This is a real time saver

Hey, depending on what I'm preparing, I will quad the recipe, bag it in portions, and enjoy it multiple times. Great idea and big $$ AND time saver!

I usually double batch when cooking my dinner so that I can take the other half into work the next day for lunch :-)

I also tend to make extra pastry to freeze so that I don't have to keep making it all the time, haha

I invested in a vacuum packer a couple of years ago, and boy has it been a God-send! It sure cuts down on the freezer burn a lot better than zippered freezer bags. I simply cannot get the hang of cooking in small portions, so this machine has saved me a lot of money, as there is so much less waste.

I am with you, A.L. Before getting a commercial FoodSaver rig, I would portion out whatever I wanted for the house freezer into smaller zip freezer bags, then pack those in a larger freezer bag. I eliminated air in all the bags by inserting a straw into each bag and sucking out all the air. It was extremely efficient, and provided a slight buzz, which, at the time, I confused for the effects of exercising my 'Chef's Perrogative' of finishing the opened bottle of Sangiovese I had been using for a meat dish... That is how close I came to inventing the FoodSaver line. Undercapitalization...

Omg, I used to do the same thing, which was okay when freezing cooked foods, or raw (blanched) vegetables and fresh fruit...not so awesome when freezing raw fish..blech! No wonder I don't care for fish a lot! LOL!!
Oh yeah, foodie friends, the zippered freezer bag/straw thing is okay, but don't bother trying to save time by applying this method to frozen alcoholic blender drinks...it does NOT save time when you have to keep refilling the same bag just because you got a little too enthusiastic with the straw...
