Help! How close are these recipes to what Dr. Fuhrman suggests?

Chrissy Rajsz 04 ноября 2012

I bought "Eat to Live" in the hopes of loosing the extra pounds that crept up on me in the last few years, and which now, I am trouble taking off. In the book, some of the recipes I tried I could not stand to eat. Looking at some of the recipes here on this site under this group, I'm just curious how close they really are to what Dr. Fuhrman writes about. Some of them look delicious, hence why I'm being skeptical. Thanks!

By the way, those of you on it.... did/do you have success? How fast/much weight came off the first month? (I don't always trust book success stories because sometimes they put in just the few very good examples of weight loss)

Re: Help! How close are these recipes to what Dr. Fuhrman suggests?

Hi Chrissy,
I don't monitor every recipe that gets posted to this group, but I personally post recipes that I think follow eat to live in spirit. That means that the ratio of nutrients to calories is very high. Typically, they include a lot of calories from vegetables, legumes, whole grains, or fruits. However, I think it's important to look at each to make sure it is as "strict" as you want it to be.
After I read Eat To Live about 10 years ago and changed my diet, I dropped from about 165 pounds to 145 pounds in about 6 months. As I've loosened up a bit, I've settled in at about 153 pounds. I'd like to be 10 pounds lighter, but at 5-9 I think my body fat index is pretty healthy. The guideline of reducing animal fats and simple carbs (white flour and sugar) from your diet really does work wonders.

I am finding a lot of these recipes contain big no-no's like flour, oil, cheese and fish. I don't understand. I thought this was supposed to be akin to the reccommendations of Dr. Fuhrman's book?
