Spanish Pimenton - Hot or Sweet?

John Spottiswood
John Spottiswood 09 февраля 2010

I really want to try your Salmon recipe. It calls for Spanish pimenton. I went to Amazon and found a link that sells sweet and hot pimenton...two separate types. See here: http://www.amazon.com/Hot-and-sweet-Spanish-pimenton/dp/B000OA2G08
Which would you use for this recipe? In general, when do you use one vs. the other? Thanks!

Re: Spanish Pimenton - Hot or Sweet?

Hi John!
This recipe calls for sweet pimentón, most of Spanish recipes do. I will check the blog and change that to make it more clear. In fact hot pimentón is not very widely used in Spain, but mostly for chorizo and some other excepcionally spicy dishes.

I hope this make things clear enough, otherwise, ask again!

Cheers

Re: Spanish Pimenton - Hot or Sweet?

I wll specify hot or sweet pimentón in my recipes from now on, you see this is the kind of thing you're so used to that you don't realize non-Spanish people might be not aware of. Thanks for pointing it out, John!
