I'm currently living in rural MB in an old farmhouse that we are renovating. Unfortunately, the kitchen is still on the To Do list. I have 3 teenage boys - one in first year of Culinary Arts - wahoo! We raise our own laying hens and a small Saskatoon orchard. We have also raised lamb, turkey, chicken and beef in the past. My husband and I also used to plant a large garden but we are losing our workforce and have had to down size. I still enjoy using my own products in the meals I prepare.

My mother and grandmothers taught me the basics. My sister and I used to spend hours trying new or more difficult recipes growing up. Although you cannot beat the basics, I am always intrigued by different cultures cuisine and love to try new dishes at home. My ingredient selections are strongly influenced by local availability and sustainability as I always try to use fresh items.
