I have two children, both adults now. I have a daughter that's 33 and my son is 26. Two years ago my daughter blessed me with my first Grandchildren a girl and a boy. I was just tickled pink when I first heard the news. It seemed like I was waiting forever. I wanted to be a Nana for so long. They're 2 yrs old now and they are the light of my life. Such little love bugs!
I'm constantly searching for recipes. My Facebook wall gets flooded with recipes because I've "Liked" so many different food pages. Then, I signed up on Pinterest. So ya, I think I have a problem. I just love food! My Mom was a professional cake decorator. She tried to teach me how to make frosting roses.. nope, I still can't make them so I'm always on the prowl trying to find the easiest technique. Mom always said, it's all in the wrist. I'm 60 now, I do, still to this day, try to make and decorate cakes (that don't need roses).
Even though I have Irish roots my best cooking seems to be Italian dishes. I love comfort food. It gets kind of hard trying to figure how much to cook. We went from a family of 4, plus .. depending on how many of the kids friends were here down to 2. My son is still at home with me yet I cook like there's an army here. Oh well, at least there are left overs for next day's lunch! (some food is best next day anyway)
I like to cook or bake fairly easy, quick to make dishes. Having a bad back doesn't make it easy standing over the cutting board, mixer or stove. Last Christmas my son gave me a Cuisinart 7 cup food processor... I didn't use it until Thanksgiving of this year (2013) After using it to make the stuffing for the turkey I can't for the life of me know why I waited so long. So now, I'm always on the search for recipes that call for using it :o
I love Chinese Food. Still looking for the perfect Fried Chicken Wing and other recipes that Chinese Restaurants make. Italian food is another favorite and Mexican too.. heck, I just love ordering or eating out, period.

My Mom. She was so frugal feeding a family of eight. Needless to say, we never dined out. She always had a homemade dessert every night but on the rare occasion she didn't have time to bake that day she'd send me down to the corner store to buy Twinkies, Snowballs or Hostess Cupcakes. I always picked the Cupcakes! If my sister was sent down, she picked the Twinkies :( ... I have to add, there was never a lump in her mashed potatoes and she made them by hand mashing and whipping with a fork. I miss her so much.
