%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20enjoy%20Lebanese%20food%20(and%20Middle%20Eastern%20in%20general).%20Last%20year%20for%20my%20birthday%20we%20went%20to%20The%20Cedar%20Restaurant%20in%20Camp%20Hill%20and%20the%20four%20of%20us%20shared%20ten%20mezze%20for%20dinner.%20Since%20the%20first%20few%20times%20we%20went%20to%20the%20restaurant,%20J%20really%20seemed%20to%20enjoy%20this%20type%20of%20food.%20Since%20then%20I%20have%20been%20trying%20to%20recreate%20as%20many%20things%20as%20possible.%20This%20is%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20restaurant%20items,%20kibbe%20balls.%20The%20restaurant%20deep%20fries%20the%20balls%20but%20this%20recipe%20calls%20for%20you%20to%20bake%20them.%20I%20think%20I%20prefer%20the%20frying%20but%20I'm%20sure%20it%20was%20less%20messy%20this%20way.%20In%20addition%20to%20the%20kibbe%20balls,%20hummus,%20and%20pita%20bread,%20I%20decided%20to%20make%20some%20of%20the%20other%20things%20we%20enjoy%20from%20the%20Lebanese%20Restaurant,%20labneh%20and%20vegetables.%20Labneh%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20been%20making%20labneh%20for%20a%20few%20months%20now.%20I%20told%20someone%20about%20it%20who%20was%20skeptical%20of%20this%20method%20but%20it%20is%20so%20much%20easier%20than%20making%20your%20own%20yogurt%20to%20start%20with%20store%20bought%20yogurt.%20I've%20only%20used%20Greek%20yogurt.%20Mix%20a%20few%20sprinkles%20of%20kosher%20salt%20into%20yogurt.%20Place%20yogurt%20in%20a%20strainer%20lined%20with%20a%20coffee%20filter%20over%20a%20bow.%20Cover%20and%20place%20in%20fridge%20overnight%20and%20drain%20until%20yogurt%20cheese%20forms.%20Drizzle%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20add%20a%20pinch%20of%20sumac.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKibbe%20Balls%20(from%20Chicho's%20Kitchen)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFry%20chopped%20onion%20with%20a%20dash%20of%20salt%20in%20oil%20until%20transparent.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20minced%20meat,%20salt%20and%20spices%20to%20onions%20and%20fry%20until%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20in%20pine%20nuts.%20Put%20filling%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20paste%20into%20egg%20sized%20balls.%20Dip%20your%20hands%20in%20cold%20water%20then%20roll%20each%20ball%20between%20the%20palms%20of%20your%20hands%20until%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%20hole%20in%20the%20middle%20with%20your%20forefinger.%20Work%20finger%20round%20in%20the%20hole%20until%20you%20have%20a%20shell%20of%20even%20thickness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFill%20hole%20with%20filling%20mixture%20and%20close%20opening.%20%20Moisten%20with%20cold%20water%20to%20seal%20well%20and%20to%20shape%20with%20two%20pointed%20sides.%20If%20any%20breaks%20appear%20in%20shell,%20close%20with%20wet%20fingers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20balls%20on%20a%20tray.%20Bake%20them%20in%20the%20oven%20at%20350%C2%BAF%20(180%C2%BAC)%20for%2020%20mn%20or%20heat%20oil%20in%20a%20pan%20then%20fry%20till%20brown%20evenly%20and%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20filling%20leftover%20and%20so%20I%20added%20some%20sliced%20zucchini,%20sliced%20carrots,%20sliced%20onions,%20and%20sliced%20red%20peppers%20and%20sauteed%20them%20in%20the%20pan%20with%20the%20leftover%20filling.%20Delicious!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
