.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20might%20have%20picked%20up%20by%20now%20that%20I%20tend%20to%20bake%20without%20butter%20and%20sometimes%20sugar%20as%20well.%20This%20doesn't%20always%20necessarily%20lead%20to%20a%20'healthy'%20cake,%20but%20it%20is%20usually%20healthier%20in%20some%20way.%20(That's%20what%20I%20keep%20telling%20myself%20anyway).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20funny%20though%20because%20I%20still%20get%20the%20same%20apprehensive%20expression%20when%20I%20tell%20them%20that%20a%20cake%20I've%20made%20had%20no%20butter%20in.%20They%20then%20munch%20on%20the%20cake,%20and%20still%20look%20a%20little%20confused,%20yet%20surprised%20at%20the%20same%20time%20(in%20a%20good%20way%20usually!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20have%20been%20very%20few%20occasions%20where%20cake%20has%20been%20left%20(unless%20they%20are%20just%20all%20extremely%20polite%20boys),%20which%20suggests%20that%20these%20'healthier'%20cakes%20aren't%20so%20bad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20I%20thought%20I'd%20share%20with%20you%20a%20few%20favourite%20butter%20and%20sugar%20free%20baking%20recipes.%20Yes,%20it%20can%20be%20a%20little%20scary%20to%20try%20these%20experimental%20ones%20out,%20but%20trust%20me,%20the%20look%20on%20people's%20faces%20when%20you%20tell%20them%20what's%20not%20in%20them%20is%20always%20rather%20satisfying%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20apple%20cake%20is%20filled%20with%20dried%20mixed%20fruit,%20which%20is%20what%20gives%20this%20cake%20its%20sweetness.%20The%20fruit%20is%20gently%20boiled%20in%20water%20to%20allow%20them%20to%20'swell',%20but%20also%20to%20ensure%20that%20they%20won't%20dry%20out%20too%20much%20whilst%20being%20baked%20into%20the%20cake.%20Ok,%20I%20admit,%20this%20is%20not%20the%20prettiest%20cake%20to%20look%20at.%20But%20it's%20packed%20out%20with%20fruit%20(as%20well%20as%20ginger%20and%20nutmeg%20of%20course),%20which%20makes%20this%20particular%20cake%20really%20flavoursome.%20So%20just%20close%20your%20eyes%20when%20you%20bite%20into%20it%20and%20you'll%20be%20fine.From%20what%20I%20remember,%20I%20created%20this%20on%20the%20back%20of%20the%20Ginger%20and%20Nutmeg%20cake%20above%20actually%20(or%20the%20other%20way%20around!),%20using%20the%20same%20ratio%20of%20ingredients.%20This%20is%20how%20I%20tend%20to%20create%20new%20recipes,%20and%20in%20this%20case%20it%20worked%20out%20particularly%20well.%20This%20has%20also%20got%20dried%20fruit%20in,%20and%20pumpkin%20seeds%20also,%20which%20you%20could%20easily%20substitute%20to%20something%20else%20of%20your%20choice,%20to%20shake%20things%20up.Ssh,%20and%20last%20but%20not%20least,%20this%20is%20the%20naughtiest%20of%20this%20batch,%20because%20it's%20got%20a%20fat%20load%20of%20double%20cream%20in%20it.%20Remember%20I%20said%20these%20experimental%20ones%20aren't%20always%20healthier%20versions%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20butter%20free%20baking%20recipes%20that%20might%20take%20your%20fancy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20sugar%20free%20baking%20recipes%20that%20might%20take%20your%20fancy.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
