Just in time for the 4th of July, our coastal County of Monterey finally had it's first taste of hot summer weather. Compared to Phoenix, that had a temperature of 118F and various parts of the country-- 80 degree weather isn't a walk in the park for us. But, for we locals, we are used to temps that range from the mid 60's to mid 70's during the summer. Air-Conditioning isn't something that is built into most of our homes. If we're hot, we plug in fans or go to an air-conditioned movie theater. I can count, on one hand, how often Craig and I have headed to our local public library, to bask in the air-conditioned computer lab due to temperatures that hit triple-digits. .%20%20I%20later%20found%20out,%20on%20Batch%20%233,%20that%20a%20White%20Zinfandel%20works%20well,%20too.%20%20A%20cup%20of%20pineapple%20juice%20goes%20into%20the%20pitcher...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E...%20add%20a%20cup%20of%20fresh%20orange%20juice.%20%20I%20added%20about%202%20ounces%20of%20simple%20syrup.%20%20That%20triggered%20an%20idea--%20I%20had%20some%20fresh,%20sliced%20pineapple%20so%20I%20added%20that%20to%20the%20mix.%20%20I%20also%20added%203%20ounces%20of%20Peach%20Schnapps%20(Bobby%20uses%20brandy)%20and%203%20ounces%20of%20Triple%20Sec--%20but,%20I%20later%20added%20a%20lot%20more...%20like%203/4%20cup%20of%20each.%20Why?%20%20I'll%20explain%20in%20a%20moment...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBobby%20Flay%20used%20a%20peach%20puree,%20but%20my%20peaches%20weren't%20quite%20soft%20and%20ripe%20enough.%20I%20decided%20to%20take%20a%20short-cut.%20%20Peach%20nectar%20worked%20great!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20lovely%20concoction%20went%20into%20the%20fridge%20for%20several%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20reason%20I%20added%20more%20Triple%20Sec%20and%20Peach%20Schnapps%20is%20that%20I%20wanted%20to%20some%20%22fizz%22%20to%20the%20Sangria.%20I%20decided%20that%20I%20would%20add%20club%20soda,%20and%20I%20figured%20that%20would%20water%20down%20the%20booze.%20%20Sounds%20sensible,%20right?%20It's%20up%20to%20you,%20but%20I%20decided%20to%20not%20add%20the%20club%20soda%20all%20at%20once.%20I%20didn't%20want%20to%20risk%20the%20sangria%20going%20flat.%20Your%20choice...%20To%20serve%20this,%20I%20poured%20a%20couple%20inches%20of%20club%20soda%20in%20each%20glass,%20added%20ice%20and%20then%20the%20white%20sangria.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20confess,%20that%20I%20made%20this%20on%20Saturday%20to%20test%20the%20recipe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVERDICT:%20%20Cheers,%20Bobby%20Flay!%20%20%20Refreshing!%20%20Peachy.%20Sweet,%20but%20not%20over-the-top%20sweet.%20My%20husband%20said%20%22it's%20a%20girlie%20drink%22,%20while%20holding%20on%20to%20a%20bottle%20of%20beer.%20%20Girlie?%20%20Really.%20%20We'll%20see...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFeeling%20satisfied%20that%20this%20Sangria%20was%20going%20to%20be%20a%20hit,%20I%20topped%20it%20off%20with%20more%20Sauvignon%20Blanc,%20a%20splash%20or%20two%20more%20of%20Peach%20Schnapps%20and%20Triple%20Sec%20and%20put%20it%20in%20the%20fridge,%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20the%20time%20our%20guests%20arrived,%20it%20was%20hot!%20Our%20two%20male%20dinner%20guests%20(who%20are%20about%20as%20macho%20as%20they%20come)%20couldn't%20get%20enough%20of%20this%20drink.%20Now,%20who%20are%20you%20gonna%20call%20%22girlie%22?%20%20Oh,%20how%20quickly%20my%20husband%20forgets.%20I%20think%20I%20saw%20him%20sipping%20two%20or%20three%20of%20these.%20%20I%20had%20to%20make%20a%20total%20of%20two%20more%20pitchers%20of%20this%20refreshing%20drink.%20%20While%20Sangria%20tastes%20best,%20when%20allowed%20to%20chill%20for%20several%20hours--%20this%20works%20fine%20if%20you%20make%20it%20on%20the%20fly.%20%20It's%20a%20perfect%20summer%20cocktail.%20It's%20also%20versatile--%20add%20or%20take%20away%20whatever%20fruit%20suits%20your%20fancy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheers!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
