- 5 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cup whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter (cut into small dice)
- 4 ounce white chocolate (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cup cold water
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3-4 ripe but still firm bananas
- 2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
- 2-4 ounce white chocolate shavings (to taste)

%20is%20a%20little%20less%20evident%20than%20the%20circumstances%20of%20my%20conception%20%E2%80%93%20but%20if%20you%20give%20me%20a%20moment%20I%E2%80%99ll%20connect%20the%20dots%20for%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20Aunt%20(my%20mother%E2%80%99s%20sister)%20called%20me%20(and%20probably%20everyone%20else)%20sugar%20pie%20or%20just%20plain%20sugar.%20I%E2%80%99m%20pretty%20sure%20she%20knew%20my%20name,%20but%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20really%20recall%20her%20ever%20calling%20me%20anything%20other%20than%20sugar%20pie.%20Maybe%20she%20called%20me%20sugar%20cookie%20once%20or%20twice%20%E2%80%93%20it%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20surprise%20me.%20The%20point%20is%20she%20used%20the%20endearment%20sugar%20pie%20not%20the%20much%20more%20common%20sweetie%20pie.%20Now%20I%E2%80%99m%20no%20linguistical%20expert%20but%20it%20seems%20to%20me%20that%20sugar%20pie%20is%20a%20much%20more%20Southern%20moniker%20than%20sweetie%20pie%20(with%20Texas%20being%20the%20exception).%20Maybe%20I%E2%80%99m%20wrong,%20but%20endearments%20tend%20to%20be%20cultural%20and%20regional%20and%20they%20always%20have.%20Let%E2%80%99s%20boil%20it%20down%20%E2%80%93%20so%20to%20speak.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhite%20Chocolate%20Banana%20Cream%20Pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20you%20ever%20noticed%20that%20so%20many%20of%20our%20sweetest%20terms%20of%20affection%20(also%20known%20as%20hypocorisms)%20are%20delicious?%20By%20that%20I%20mean%20food%20related.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebabycakes,%20cookie,%20cupcake,%20honeybun,%20muffin,%20bonbon,%20chicklet,%20lambchop,%20peach,%20dumpling,%20bean,%20sugarplum,%20pumpkin,%20peanut,%20etc%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20not%20just%20my%20Southern%20relatives%20either.%20The%20French%20also%20have%20edible%20endearments:%20petit%20chou%20(little%20cabbage),%20petit%20pois%20(little%20pea)%20mon%20cochon%20(my%20pig).%20The%20Japanese%20have%20an%20interesting%20turn%20of%20phrase%20as%20well:%20tamago%20gata%20no%20kao%20(egg%20with%20eyes).%20Which%20makes%20the%20Italian%20term%20%E2%80%9Cmeatball%E2%80%9D%20(polpetto)%20sound%20downright%20delicious,%20I%20mean%20romantic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAppetite%20inducing%20endearments%20aren%E2%80%99t%20strictly%20modern%20day%20sobriquets%20either.%20Huny%20gukus%20was%20a%20popular%2016th%20century%20term%20to%20express%20fondness%20that%20was%20also%20a%20type%20of%20honey%20cake.%20Crowdie%20Mowdie%20(a%20type%20of%20porridge)%20is%20another%20archaic%20English%20nickname%20sure%20to%20get%20a%20love%20struck%20maiden%20blushing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20it%20was%20my%20endearment-slinging%20Aunt%20who%20first%20planted%20the%20idea%20in%20my%20head%20that%20(in%20all%20probability)%20I%20was%20a%20honeymoon%20baby.%20Which%20I%20guess%20is%20the%20sweetest%20sort%20of%20sugar%20baby%20you%20can%20be%20(at%20least%20in%20her%20eyes).%20So%20let%E2%80%99s%20raise%20a%20glass%20my%20little%20jellybeans%20and%20pull%20up%20a%20slice%20of%20White%20Chocolate%20Banana%20Cream%20Pie.%20It%E2%80%99s%20the%20sugar%20pie%20I%20conceived%20to%20celebrate%20my%20special%20day.%20GREG%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20may%20also%20use%20a%2016%C2%BD%20oz%20package%20of%20refrigerated%20sugar%20cookie%20dough.%20Knead%20about%20%C2%BD%20cup%20flour%20into%20the%20dough%20and%20chill%20thoroughly%20before%20lining%20pan.%20Also,%20this%20is%20a%20pudding%20pie,%20so%20expect%20messy%20slices!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20cookie%20dough%20between%20two%20pieces%20of%20plastic%20wrap%20to%20a%2012%20or%2013-inch%20round%20about%20%E2%85%93-inch%20thick.%20Chill%2020%20minutes%20then%20peel%20off%20the%20top%20layer%20and%20invert%20the%20dough,%20centered,%20onto%20a%209%20or%2010-inch%20pie%20pan.%20Gently%20fit%20the%20dough%20inside.%20Be%20quite%20gentle%20as%20the%20tender%20dough%20breaks%20easily.%20Peel%20off%20the%20remaining%20plastic,%20trim%20the%20edge%20neatly,%20crimp%20decoratively%20if%20you%20like,%20then%20repair%20any%20tear%20or%20holes%20with%20the%20trimmings.%20Prick%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20dough%20with%20a%20fork.%20Freeze%20the%20crust%20for%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile%20set%20the%20oven%20rack%20in%20the%20center%20position%20and%20heat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20Bake%20the%20frozen%20crust%20for%2015%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20oven%20and%20carefully%20pat%20down%20crust%20where%20it%20is%20puffed.%20Return%20to%20oven%20until%20lightly%20browned,%20about%206%20more%20minutes,%20then%20remove%20from%20oven%20and%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile,%20combine%20granulated%20sugar,%20corn%20starch%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan.%20Gradually%20whisk%20in%20milk.%20Cook%20over%20medium%20heat,%20stirring%20constantly,%20until%20thick%20enough%20to%20pull%20away%20from%20the%20sides%20when%20stirred.%20Remove%20from%20heat,%20but%20leave%20the%20burner%20on.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20separate%20bowl%20whisk%20the%20eggs%20until%20very%20frothy.%20Slowly%20ladle%20in%20about%201%20cup%20of%20the%20warm,%20thickened%20m
