Рецепт [VeganMoFo 2016] My Mother's Simply Fried Cauliflower Recipe
by Siri

Tweet Every time I make these Simply Fried Cauliflower florets at home, I think of my mother and her cooking. Our favorite to this day, it is simply amazing how she used to deep fry almost everything without a drop of excess oil. There were times when we were kids - me & my sister used to just gobble right out of the frying pan. Especially on rainy days and Saturdays, these were an absolute must-make dish in our household. The ritual continued until I charted out to a far away land for my higher studies. Now, living worlds apart from her, I crave for her reassuring words during times of distress and most of all her comforting food. Amma, this post like many others on this blog is dedicated to you. I love you. I miss you.   Simply Fried Cauliflower PRINT RECIPE Recipe Source: My Mother Category: Appetizers/Snacks Total Time: 15 to 20 mins Serves: 2-3 Ingredients 1 head of cauliflower 4 tbsp corn flour salt to taste 1/4 tsp turmeric 1 tsp red chili powder 1/2 tsp garam masala powder 1/2 tsp each of finely chopped fresh ginger and garlic oil for frying Preparation Wash and cut cauliflower into florets. Bring a bowl of water with about tsp of salt to boil. Add the cauliflower florets and blanch for about 4 mins. Remove using a slotted spoon and immediately drop into cold water to stop cooking. Drain water and pat them dry with kitchen towel to absorb extra moisture. Set aside in a bowl. Heat oil for frying. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together: corn flour, ginger, garlic, chili powder, salt, turmeric and garam masala. Sprinkle corn flour mixture on blanched cauliflower florets and add just about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water to toss everything. The idea is to lightly coat the cauliflower florets with an even dose of flour seasoning. Gently drop them a small batch at a time into hot oil and fry the cauliflower until golden brown. Remove using a slotted spoon and transfer on to kitchen towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup or any dip. Did you like this recipe? Are you craving for more?
