Thought you might like to see Little Elsa's nursery - it's as sweet as she is! While I was visiting we hung the quilt from Moi on her wall...this quilt was from a Round Robin that our quilt group did years ago, I made the center block and each month someone added a border. I love this quilt - it's so beautifully made and now Elsa can see it every day - makes me happy! I made Elsa's curtains and the table in the corner - amd the quilt works so nicely with them!
Here's the little darling - I think you can see Elsa is a beauty! She has huge blue eyes and is always smiling...goes to sleep happy, wakes up happy - she's one of the nicest little humans on the planet!
Here's the other nicest human on the planet - Max, the Apple Picker. He loved climbing the ladder to pick apples from my parents' apple tree - he loved throwing them over the fence even more!
Max helped me pick about 25 pounds of apples...which I brought home in a suitcase - yes, Washington is known for it's apples but the ones my mom and dad grow are the best! I plan to use them to make my Crock-Pot Apple Butter, it's so easy and turns out perfect every time!
While in Utah I was able to watch my niece play soccer - she's the cutie on the far right. While we were waiting for the game to get underway my mom pointed out a "world-famous escarpment." That's what she said, world famous. Mom said geologists come from all over the world to study this particular escarpment. According to my mom (and the dictionary), an escarpment/scarp is formed by earthquakes and erosion, over thousands of years... and this particular scarp, a geological term I am now qualified to use as I have read all about them on Wikipedia, is concave, having been formed by two different land masses moving in different directions...fascinating, no? This "world-famous escarpment" is located at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, along the Wasatch Front...however, when I conducted an extensive 5 minute search, no mention of this particular scarp was found...I can only conclude that my mother is smarter and better informed than Google.
Bone marrow, banners on cakes, Elsa's nursery, Max picking apples, Gracie's soccer game, a "world-famous escarpment"...whew! I've ticked a lot of boxes with this post - time to give it a rest! Just one more thing...
My mom ordered a book from Amazon and when she opened it up she asked me
if I had heard of it, "It's #1 on Amazon!" I started laughing and told her she COULD NOT read it - she would definitely not like it! 50 Shades of Porn is a more appropriate title (or so I'm told as I have not read this). My sister and niece came over and I told them about mom's reading material, my niece was shocked! "Grandma!!! You are going to read that?!?!" Hysterical laughter followed...the little dough-head (my niece) also said it was the best book she had ever read - loved the "back story", (just like men read Playboy for the writing)...mom immediately wrapped it back up to return but said she needed a reason to put on the form...I told her to say she thought she was ordering a decorating book...50 Shades of Grey...or she could say she's 50 Shades of Cray(zeeee) - which would be true.
