%20would%20give%20us%20a%20pin%20that%20says,%20%E2%80%98I%20bought%E2%80%99%20much%20like%20those%20we%20get%20during%20an%20election%20that%20say%20%E2%80%98I%20voted.%E2%80%99%20I%20buy%20from%20girls%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20seen%20that%20come%20door%20to%20door%20in%20my%20neighborhood%20and%20then%20feel%20compelled%20to%20buy%20a%20couple%20of%20more%20times%20when%20I%E2%80%99m%20at%20the%20grocery%20store.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20there.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20the%20girl%20selling%20those%20cookies%20and%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20the%20mom%20of%20the%20girls%20selling%20the%20cookies%20and%20I%E2%80%99ve%20even%20been%20the%20Troop%20leader%20of%20those%20girls%20and%20I%20know%20all%20that%20is%20involved.%20So%20I%E2%80%99m%20supportive%20but%20there%20is%20a%20crux.%20There%20can%20be%20a%20glut%20of%20cookies%20if%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20careful!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELuckily%20last%20week%20I%20got%20word%20that%20my%20neighbor%20who%20so%20regularly%20swings%20his%20ATV%20with%20a%20blade%20up%20my%20driveway%20when%20it%20snows%20was%20in%20desperate%20need%20of%20some%20cookies.%20That%20settled%20one%20buy.%20But%20Tagalongs%20are%20not%20my%20thing;%20for%20me%20it%E2%80%99s%20always%20been%20Thin%20Mints%20and%20Samoas.%20True%20confession?%20I%20believe%20I%20can%20(OK,%20have)%20eaten%20a%20whole%20box%20in%20one%20sitting.%20Of%20course%20now%20that%20the%20boxes%20are%20shrinking%20that%E2%80%99s%20not%20quite%20as%20bad%20an%20admission%20as%20in%20years%20past.%20Thank%20goodness%E2%80%A6because%20while%20I%20want%20to%20help%20the%20cause,%20I%20also%20can%E2%80%99t%20justify%2010%20boxes%20of%20them%20just%20for%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20got%20my%20Thin%20Mints%20in%20hand%20and%20had%20this%20notion%20I%20would%20make%20a%20cocktail.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20probably%20seen%20a%20few%20posted%20in%20years%20past%20but%20to%20be%20honest,%20sometimes%20the%20cocktails%20that%20people%20come%20up%20with%20make%20my%20teeth%20hurt%20with%20the%20SWEET%20factor.%20It%E2%80%99s%20like%20they%E2%80%99re%20desperately%20trying%20to%20disguise%20the%20fact%20that%20there%20is%20actually%20booze%20involved;%20their%20audience%20must%20be%2018%E2%80%A6oops%20I%20mean%2021%20year%20olds!%20Not%20having%20decided%20on%20what%20to%20do,%20I%20saw%20a%20virtual%20friend%20post%20a%20Thin%20Mint%20Julep%20cocktail%20he%20had%20made%20a%20few%20years%20ago%20that%20seemed%20right%20up%20my%20%E2%80%98OMG%20how%20I%20love%20mint%20juleps%20alley.%E2%80%99%20If%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20Sean%20you%20should.%20The%20brains%20behind%20both%20Punk%20Domestics%20and%20Hedonia,%20he%E2%80%99s%20someone%20who%20has%20always%20been%20after%20my%20own%20heart.%20Canning%20and%20charcuterie%20and%20cocktails%E2%80%A6some%20I%E2%80%99m%20more%20expert%20at%20than%20others%20but%20if%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20sure%20about%20a%20technique%20I%E2%80%99m%20betting%20on%20Sean%20to%20have%20some%20information%20that%20can%20help.%20I%E2%80%99ll%20probably%20embarrass%20him%20too%20but%20I%20just%20think%20he%E2%80%99s%20sweet.%20Sweet%20goes%20a%20VERY%20long%20way%20in%20my%20book;%20as%20long%20as%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20overdone%20in%20a%20cocktail.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20speaking%20of%20sweet%E2%80%A6this%20cocktail%20has%20some%20sweet%20elements,%20sure,%20but%20it%20is%20BOURBON%20forward.%20Like%20a%20Julep%20should%20be.%20That%20being%20said%E2%80%A6I%20have%20some%20friends%20(OK,%20Sandy)%20that%20I%20will%20have%20to%20tone%20it%20down%20for.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20done%20a%20great%20job%20of%20having%20her%20see%20bourbon%20in%20a%20new%20light%20but%20I%20know%20this%20would%20be%20too%20much%20for%20her.%20Depending%20on%20your%20love%20for%20whiskey;%20temper%20how%20much%20you%20include%20too.%20Sean%20has%203%20oz%20per%20cocktail;%20I%20would%20start%20with%202%20oz%20and%20work%20your%20way%20up%20to%20be%20safe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFunny%20too,%20for%20all%20the%20homemade%20things%20that%20Sean%20does%20how%20prophetic%20it%20is%20that%20this%20cocktail%20should%20include%20both%20my%20own%20chocolate%20liqueur%20and%20peppermint%20schnapps.%20I%20make%20chocolate%20liqueur%20just%20because;%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20something%20I%20see%20available%20anywhere%20and%20I%20love%20it.%20In%20a%20cocktail,%20in%20coffee,%20on%20ice%20cream%E2%80%A6yep,%20it%E2%80%99s%20love.%20The%20Peppermint%20Schnapps.%20Well,%20I%20wanted%20to%20make%20this%20cocktail%20and%20had%20none%20and%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20use%20that%20liqueur%20enough%20to%20buy%20any%20so%20I%20made%20some.%20And%20I%E2%80%99m%20glad%20I%20did;%20I%20see%20far%20more%20value%20for%20me%20to%20have%20a%20cup%20of%20Schnapps%20than%20a%20whole%20bottle%20(I%20even%20cut%20the%20recipe%20indicated%20in%20half);%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20something%20I%20think%20of%20using%20a%20lot.%20Easy%20too.%20Probably%20should%20age%20just%20a%20bit%20more%20than%20mine%E2%80%A6as%20in%20a%20couple%20of%20days.%20Mine%20only%20had%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes.%20But%20since%20it%20was%20being%20mixed%20with%20bourbon%20and%20chocolate%20liqueur%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20think%20I%20would%20notice%20the%20nuances%20and%20I%E2%80%99ll%20test%20later%20but%20nothing%20came%20across%20harsh%20so%20I%20was%20all%20good%20to%20go!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESean%20gives%20a%20mixture%20for%20rimming%20the%20glass;%20simply%20combining%20some%20cocoa%20and%20fine%20sugar.%20Or%20he%20suggests%20if%20you%20have%20Thin%20Mints%20on%20hand%20that%20you%20could%20cut%20away%20the%20chocolate%20exterior%20and%20crush%20the%20cookies%20for%20use%20as%20a%20rimmer.%20No%20need%20to;%20I%20blended%20up%20the%20whole%20cookie%20and%20I%20loved%20the%20bits%20of%20chocolate;%20easier%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20this%20drink,%20Scouts%20Honor%20you%20will%20love%20it.%20(And%20be%20sure%20to%20support%20the%20Scouts%20too%20and%20grab%20a%20couple%20of%20boxes%20of%20cookies!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20the%20Peppermint%20Schnaps%20onto%20a%20shallow%20plate.%20Add%20an%20equal%20amount%20of%20the%20Creme%20de%20Cacao%20and%20mix.%20Dip%20the%20rims%20of%20each%20glass%20into%20the%20liqueurs%20and%20then%20into%20the%20ground%20cookie%20(or%20cocoa)%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFill%20a%20cocktail%20shaker%20with%20ice;%20add%20the%20Peppermint%20Schnapps,%20Creme%20de%20Cacao%20and%20bourbon.%20Shake%20until%20ice%20cold%20and%20pour%20over%20more%20ice%20in%20the%20rimmed%20glasses.%20Garnish%20with%20a%20mint%20leaf%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20rule%20is%20the%20more%20bourbon,%20the%20more%20ice.%20It%20serves%20to%20dilute%20it%20a%20bit%20and%20I%20think%20that's%20all%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.creative-culinary.com/thin-mint-julep/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECreative%20Culinary%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
