Рецепт THE KENTUCKY MINT JULEP
Posted on April 30, 2012 by The Southern Lady
The mint julep has been a tradition in Kentucky for years. Served at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Derby for nearly a century. This is a great “sippin” drink to enjoy while relaxing on those hot summer Southern afternoons or just any time you need something cold and smooth.
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- Sprigs of fresh mint
- Crushed ice
- 2 ounces of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (can use as much as you like)
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Place mint leaves in bottom of tall glass, add some of the syrup and with a wooden spoon handle crush or mash the leaves to extract flavor into the syrup. Fill glass with crushed ice, pour in 2 ounces of bourbon. Garnish with mint and Enjoy!
Note: I add about 1 tablespoon of simple syrup to 2 ounces of bourbon. Can add more syrup if you want a sweeter drink.
