%20and%20half%20and%20half.%20Part%20coffee.%20Part%20cocktail.%20Part%20dessert.%20All%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20I%20mentioned%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20love%20Halloween?%20Too%20much%20maybe?%20OK,%20it%E2%80%99s%20almost%20over%20and%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20done%20with%20it%20but%20I%E2%80%99ve%20actually%20gotten%20into%20a%20bit%20more%20this%20year.%20I%20just%20love%20the%20little%20kiddos%20on%20my%20street%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20already%20hearing%20what%20they%E2%80%99ll%20be%20wearing%20so%20yes,%20sort%20of%20excited%20about%20seeing%20them%20because%20they%E2%80%99re%20so%20excited!%20With%20over%2015%20kids%20on%20my%20one%20black%20I%20want%20to%20be%20prepared%20so%20I%20picked%20up%20this%20mega%20bag%20of%20candy.%20I%20hid%20it%20from%20myself%20so%20as%20not%20to%20devour%20any%20before%20Halloween;%20hope%20I%20remember%20where%20I%20put%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20do%20have%20a%20Jack-O-Lantern%20sitting%20outside%20(the%20one%20in%20these%20photos%20actually)%20and%20I%20have%20a%20real%20one%20too%20but%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20carve%20it%20because%20I%20want%20to%20cook%20it%20after%20Halloween%20and%20freeze%20the%20pumpkin%20for%20Thanksgiving%20pies.%20If%20you%E2%80%99ve%20never%20made%20your%20own%20pumpkin%20puree;%20it%E2%80%99s%20so%20worth%20it.%20Did%20you%20know%20that%20the%20canned%20pumpkin%20you%20buy%20is%20actually%20a%20mixture%20of%20different%20squashes?%20Tasting%20true,%20fresh%20pumpkin%20is%20life%20changing.%20OK,%20maybe%20not%20but%20it%20is%20certainly%20enlightening!%20OK,%20I%20sort%20of%20got%20off%20track%20there%20but%20I%20admit%20I%20am%20passionate%20about%20fresh%20pumpkin!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELooky%20looky%E2%80%A6I%20even%20bought%20ORANGE%20straws.%20I%E2%80%99m%20trying;%20I%20really%20am!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20cocktail%20came%20about%20because%20I%20wanted%20something%20warming%20to%20sip%20while%20I%20wait%20for%20the%20hordes%20to%20arrive%20and%20while%20I%20might%20love%20warm%20apple%20cider,%20I%20still%20like%20my%20cocktails%20cold.%20You%20know%20I%20put%20a%20lot%20of%20thought%20and%20consternation%20into%20my%20cocktail%20making;%20as%20in%20I%20had%20a%20bottle%20of%20fantastic%20maple%20syrup%20from%20my%20friend%20Paula%20sitting%20in%20my%20pantry%20right%20next%20to%20a%20jar%20of%20dried%20espresso.%20Add%20this%20fantastic%20rum%20from%20the%20folks%20at%20The%20Real%20McCoy%20on%20the%20counter%20and%20the%20wheels%20started%20churning.%20Much%20like%20I%20never%20drink%20coffee%20without%20half%20and%20half%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20imagine%20this%20without%20it%20either%20and%20before%20you%20know%20it%20a%20Star%20Was%20Born.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpeaking%20of%20The%20Real%20McCoy?%20First,%20don%E2%80%99t%20you%20just%20love%20the%20name%20which%20by%20the%20way%20is%20named%20after%20Bill%20McCoy,%20a%20pioneering%20rum%20runner%20during%20Prohibition.%20Bill%20would%20fill%20a%20boat%20with%20Caribbean%20rum%20and%20sail%20to%20New%20York%20where%20he%20acted%20as%20an%20offshore%20liquor%20store%20and%20was%20protected%20by%20his%20location%20in%20international%20waters%20keeping%20him%20out%20of%20the%20hands%20of%20the%20law.%20Dubbed%20%E2%80%98the%20Real%20McCoy%E2%80%99%20because%20it%20was%20not%20watered%20down%20like%20most%20of%20Prohibition-era%20booze%20it%20was%20a%20huge%20favorite%20then%20and%20I%20LOVED%20it%20now.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Five%20Year%20Old%20rum%20has%20been%20produced%20as%20a%20homage%20to%20that%20very%20rum%20from%20long%20ago%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20even%20distilled%20at%20the%20same%20Barbados%20distillery%20before%20being%20aged%20in%20used%20bourbon%20barrels.%20On%20the%20nose,%20the%20amber%20colored%20rum%20is%20full%20of%20oak,%20vanilla%20and%20baking%20spices.%20Take%20a%20sip,%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20warm%20and%20slightly%20viscous,%20with%20flavors%20ranging%20from%20caramel%20and%20almonds%20to%20toffee,%20dried%20fruits%20and%20lots%20more%20oak.%20It%20starts%20out%20mildly%20sweet%20and%20finishes%20very%20dry.%20With%20the%20addition%20of%20the%20maple%20syrup%20in%20this%20cocktail%20that%20was%20an%20important%20feature%20as%20it%20kept%20it%20from%20becoming%20too%20cloyingly%20sweet.%20A%20very%20solid%20rum%20with%20a%20surprisingly%20oaky%20component;%20I%20enjoyed%20it%20much%20more%20than%20some%20rums%20I%E2%80%99ve%20tried%20that%20are%20too%20vanilla%20heavy.%20A%20great%20all%20around%20rum,%20superb%20in%20this%20cocktail%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20it%20will%20be%20equally%20fantastic%20in%20my%20holiday%20rum%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20it%20while%20my%20friend%20Sandy%20was%20here%20visiting.%20We%20had%20enjoyed%20a%20bagel%20and%20coffee%20and%20I%20needed%20to%20get%20this%20cocktail%20made%20and%20photographed.%20Her%20look%20was%20priceless.%20I%20believe%20she%20was%20almost%20speechless.%20It%E2%80%99s%20sweet,%20there%20is%20no%20doubt%20but%20not%20too%20sweet%20(at%20least%20not%20for%20us!).%20So%20it%E2%80%99s%20most%20definitely%20an%20after%20dinner%20cockta
