%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecently%20on%20SBS%20Food,%20they%20showed%20The%20Hairy%20Bikers%20Bakeation,%20where%20%20the%20Hairy%20Bikers%20rode%20and%20ate%20their%20way%20through%20Europe.%20(Yep,%20this%20show%20is%2013%20years%20old,%20but%20I%20have%20never%20seen%20it%20before.)%20%20They%20made%20a%20number%20of%20fabulous%20looking%20dishes%20along%20the%20way,%20inspired%20by%20the%20countries%20they%20were%20visiting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20taken%20with%20a%20number%20of%20the%20dishes%20the%20Hairy%20Bikers%20made,%20but%20one%20which%20particularly%20caught%20my%20eye%20was%20Pogacsa%20(Bacon%20or%20Crackling%20Scones),%20from%20Hungary.%20%20Crispy%20bacon%20is%20mixed%20with%20sour%20cream,%20caraway%20seeds,%20parmesan%20cheese%20and%20the%20usual%20scone%20ingredients%20to%20create%20these%20tasty,%20filling%20scones:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20pogacsa%20spread%20with%20butter%20while%20it%20is%20still%20warm%20is%20just%20the%20ticket%20for%20breakfast:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20would%20like%20to%20make%20your%20own%20pogacsa,%20you%20will%20need:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20milk%20gently%20until%20it%20is%20just%20lukewarm,%20then%20stir%20in%20the%20yeast.%20%20Set%20aside%20for%2015%20minutes%20or%20so%20to%20allow%20the%20yeast%20to%20froth%20the%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFry%20the%20bacon%20until%20crisp,%20then%20remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20allow%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20salt,%20parmesan%20and%20caraway%20seeds%20in%20a%20medium%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20saucepan,%20then%20stir%20in%20the%20sour%20cream,%20beaten%20eggs,%20bacon%20and%20milk%20mixture.%20%20Pour%20the%20liquid%20ingredients%20into%20a%20large%20bowl,%20then%20add%20the%20dry%20ingredients,%20in%20several%20batches,%20and%20mix%20with%20a%20spoon%20and%20then%20your%20hands%20until%20everything%20is%20well%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20dough%20out%20onto%20a%20floured%20bench%20and%20knead%20with%20your%20hands%20until%20the%20dough%20is%20smooth%20and%20elastic%20(~%205%20minutes).%20%20Put%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20well%20oiled%20bowl%20and%20leave%20to%20rise%20for%201%201/2%20hours%20or%20until%20doubled%20in%20size.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20dough%20back%20out%20onto%20the%20floured%20bench%20and%20punch%20it%20down,%20then%20press%20or%20roll%20it%20out%20to%20~%201%201/2%20inches%20in%20thickness.%20%20Cut%20out%20rounds%20from%20the%20dough%20using%20a%20scone%20cutter,%20and%20place%20onto%20a%20baking%20sheet%20lined%20with%20baking%20paper.%20%20Make%20a%20cross-cross%20pattern%20on%20the%20top%20of%20each%20scone%20using%20a%20sharp%20knife,%20then%20allow%20the%20scones%20to%20rise%20for%20another%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20200%20degrees%20Celsius.%20%20Brush%20the%20top%20of%20each%20scone%20with%20eggwash,%20then%20bake%20the%20scones%20%20for%2025-30%20minutes%20or%20until%20golden%20brown%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20warm%20spread%20with%20lashings%20of%20butter.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
