.%20%20However,%20like%20Michael%20Pollan,%20Mad%20feels%20that%20humans%20were%20born%20omnivores,%20and%20an%20omnivorous%20diet%20includes%20meat.%20She%20feels%20that%20we%20need%20meat%20for%20our%20health,%20perhaps%20even%20for%20survival,%20but%20that%20with%20all%20the%20synthetic%20fibers%20out%20there,%20we%20do%20not%20need%20to,%20as%20she%20likes%20to%20say,%20%22slaughter%20animals%20for%20FASHION.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20afraid%20to%20say,%20that%20my%20desire%20to%20go%20meatless%20several%20times%20a%20week%20has%20more%20to%20do%20with%20the%20deficit%20in%20my%20own%20(synthetically%20produced)%20wallet,%20as%20opposed%20to%20say,%20animal%20rights%20or%20green%20concerns.%20%20Ok,%20it%20also%20has%20to%20do%20with%20my%20preference%20for%20organically%20and%20humanely%20raised%20meat,%20and%20the%20fact%20that%20such%20meat%20costs,%20well,%20let's%20just%20say,%20a%20lot.%20%20So%20we're%20cutting%20back%20which%20is%20lovely%20because%20this%20cutting%20back%20coincides%20with%20the%20opening%20of%20the%20brand%20spankin'%20new%20farmer's%20market%20in%20my%20township.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20Thursday%20I%20bought%20these%20beautiful%20red%20spring%20onions,%20some%20garlic%20scapes%20-%20which%20are%20the%20tops%20of%20the%20garlic%20bulb%20(and%20which%20I%20discovered%20can%20be%20tough%20if%20you%20don't%20cut%20the%20pointy%20tops%20off)%20-%20some%20parsley,%20some%20chervil%20and%20a%20ton%20of%20fresh%20basil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20I%20made%20with%20it%20all.%20%20The%20girls%20ate%20it%20up%20-%20which%20is%20just%20a%20complete%20miracle%20in%20my%20opinion%20(please,%20no%20one%20tell%20them%20about%20the%20fish%20sauce).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don't%20own%20a%20wok%20-%20(I%20do%20have%20a%20birthday%20in%20July%20coming%20up...)%20-%20so%20I%20use%20a%20large%20skillet.%20%20Place%20this%20over%20a%20very%20high%20heat%20and%20get%20the%20pan%20as%20hot%20as%20you%20can.%20%20Swirl%20in%20the%20oil,%20then%20throw%20the%20onions%20and%20garlic%20scapes%20in%20and%20stir%20around%20quickly.%20%20When%20the%20onion%20and%20scapes%20are%20wilted%20throw%20in%20the%20ginger%20and%20garlic,%20but%20don't%20let%20them%20cook%20too%20long%20because%20they%20burn%20quickly.%20%20Throw%20in%20all%20of%20the%20rice,%20then%20add%20fish%20sauce%20and%20the%20lime%20juice.%20%20Let%20this%20cook%20down%20about%20a%20minute.%20%20Add%20the%20eggs.%20%20Let%20the%20eggs%20sit%20in%20the%20pan%20for%2030%20seconds%20to%20set,%20then%20stir%20it%20all%20up%20very%20quickly.%20%20Add%20the%20basil,%20and%20you%20are%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlate%20it%20up,%20adding%20a%20little%20fresh%20basil.%20%20At%20the%20table%20I%20like%20to%20add%20a%20few%20drops%20of%20chili%20sauce%20(Smith%20adds%20a%20LOT%20of%20chili%20sauce.)%20%20My%20Mad,%20who%20is%20a%20salt-aholic%20adds%20soy%20sauce,%20but%20I%20feel%20the%20fish%20sauce%20is%20salty%20enough%20for%20my%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENo%20pictures%20(sorry)%20-%20I%20never%20think%20to%20charge%20the%20battery%20soon%20enough.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
